CDU not working after SP1

Featured Replies

Hi,for some reason, my captains CDU refuses to work since I installed SP2. See hereNo power, completely dead. Even pressing the menu doesnt load the PMDG menu.Ive also tried uninstalling the 737, and reinstalling, including patch.I have the panel state "NGX Short" set as my default.Earlier on, it was working, however when I tried to load a new panel state, it seems to freeze, just showing "loading panel state".Everything else in the cockpit seems fine. And the co pilots CDU is working fine also.Any suggestions?Andy

Its a known issue, click on it to bring up the 2D version then close it. The VC version will now display correctly

Just click on it a couple times in VC and it will light up

PMDG are aware of this and it is fixed for the next update............Sp1B.*************************************************************************We found the source of the the blank captain's FMC CDU when using panel states late last night - it'll be fixed shortly in an update but the fix is quite simple if you want to do it yourself right now:Go to the FSXPMDGPMDG 737 NGXPanelSate folder - open each one of the NGX*.sav files in notepad or a similar plaintext editor - find the line under [CDU.0] that says "2DOpen=1" - set it to 0 and the problem will be fixed. The panel states were saved with the 2D popup version of the FMC open and the code wasn't accounting for it - the VC version blanks out if the 2D one is open to save performance and it thinks the 2D is open when it isn't - that's the source of the problem.Ryan Maziarz***********************************************Fred.

Unfortunately this fix just reverses the problem. When applying this "fix", the FMS is suddenly on when starting from a cold and dark cockpit, even when there is no power. See the attached screenshot. It looks like everything is ok in the [cdu.0] section in the appropriate .sav file, but as you can see the FMS on the captain side is still on. It looks like there must be another setting that is not in the correct position.Jon

Make sure you delete all saved states and try again.

ATC: Yeah, it's OK. He's not hungry.

I only have the default 4 .sav files that came with the NGX, and they have all been adjusted as recommended by Ryan, so that isn't the problem.Jon

Even if I manually save a dark and cold cockpit, (i.e. creating a new .sav-file) then the FMS is still on when coming back to the cockpit (after a PC "cold boot"). That's the part I don't get. When I manually save everything the way I want it to be, the next time I come back to the cockpit, the FMS is already on.I've already contacted PMDG support about this, and I hope they know something I don't.

mines been like that from the beginning, i just put up with it

Must be PBKAC, since I was able to solve it with Ryan's steps.
