Has anyone tried Simflyers Houston yet?

Featured Replies

I'm curious if anyone has tried Simflyers latest scenery of Houston. I'd be interested to see what feedback there might be here on these forums.Lee

John, The demo has its limitations, I'm sure he wanted to hear from a Paying customer, rather than check out the "Borg Cubes" Himself, with no runways.

Yes, and IMHO it is great. I believe it is the most stable production yet from SimFlyers. (Look at the SimFlyer forum, you can get both sides opinions). There are no SimFlyer static aircraft at the main terminals, but with the AF2 bgl included in the download, the control of FS9 AI traffic is outstanding. If you fail to copy that bgl into your addon scenery, the AI planes tend to make love with each other in their movements. The only limitation is during VatSim flights, you may loose this traffic if you are into that. Someone else has already brought that to SimFlyer's attention and they are looking into it so I would not be surprised to see a future download for static scenery. As much VatSim traffic as there has been at KIAH at peak times, you may find this to be academic anyway. At cargo locations (i.e. Fedex etc.) there are static SimFlyer birds.I am tickled to death with the purchase. See what you can see from the demo. May not be a perfect evaluation, but you should get some idea if you already have any other SimFlyer locations.Good Luck

I bought it as well, and I am very pleased! It's a busy airport so expect lots of traffic if you use Ultimate Traffic or PAI.FYI Kev Au has posted an excellent PAI AFCAD2 for SimFlyer's KIAHhttp://afcad.projectai.comhttp://fsgateway.com/frank/fs9paibeta.jpg

Though not quite as bad, this scenery is next in line from Simflyers that's the worst on framerates (Dallas KDFW being the first)... Bare that in mind when concidering buying this scenery.

I found KLAS to be the worst in FPS.I actually deleted it from my system due to a lot of stutters. The default scenery runs smooth ...I have most SF airports and I am backing off until they fix some of their issues with flashing ground textures and ILS issues .

Capt. Not to disagree with you at all, but thought I would just mention. I have just posted a spreadsheet relative to the ILS problem, as to who works and who does not here, on Fltsim, and on the SimFlyers forum. At least I now know what to expect when VatSim assigns a runway. One more suggestion (not a solution): When flashing occurs, click your ground shadows option in FS9. Doesn't seem to make any difference which way, it clears the problem on my system until I reach a new location. (Then click again). Yea, I know.... but it is a temporary fix anyway. If it is worth anything to you, you might want to take a peek at my post.Good luck:RTH>I found KLAS to be the worst in FPS.I actually deleted it>from my system due to a lot of stutters. The default scenery>runs smooth ...I have most SF airports and I am backing off>until they fix some of their issues with flashing ground>textures and ILS issues .

I've purchased it and it's great. At first, after installing it, I couldn't even load up FS9 without getting an "out of memory" warning. (And this was with only SysTray and Explorer running!) After using the enclosed Display Tool and removing the ground equipment and a couple of other items, it works very well. I'm getting about 10 fps with lots of AI traffic. I do miss the ground trucks, etc, however.

Hi Lee,Keeping with my practice of going to places where things are going on with FS9. I purchased the SF's KIAH scenery to attend the "virtual" super bowl. IMHO this is one the best scenery addon in their product line. I don't have a super system, but it ran my PMDG 737NG very well, and with some weather my frames were over 10 all the time. I have all the SF US sceneries, plus several of their European airports. Love their work, KDFW is a frame hog and does need a patch, but overall their work is outstanding.BTW, my PMDG 737 is setting on the tarmac in Honolulu for the Pro Bowl this weekend, with the outstanding Lago scenery, now that is scenery that really rocks. Also everyone should try Harald Kraus's KDEN scenery for the new Denver International Airport, which is my home airport, just OUTSTANDING, which you get here on AVSIM.CheersBob
