Flight Controls bad or ... ?

Featured Replies

Hi Community,My headline says a lot,but whom I stand on the ground and after the engine start the pilot testing the flight controls''and''Who do I test the flight controls is the case with me : ... as in the photo ...,But in real it looks like this (video from YouTube by 1:55 Min.) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIAWFI2ZLXg But on the ''flight controls'' monitor I see that I have full crucial ... You see the big difference ???And I can change the NGX so it looks like on the video ???Please Help me !!!Thanks

I have actually thought of that one myself. I the NGX when doing the flight control check I always put down the spoiler level at max, that gives the spoilers the same reaction but I do not think that you have to do that in a real 737NG.

Ships are cooler that you think.

Yes they move less than in real life. The check in the video is done with the speed brake lever in down position (or also the ground spoiler panel must be in extended position) you will notice also a lower movement of the aileron.I don't know the reason of it, but it flies well... :)

AFAIK They don't touch the spoilers when checking flight controls. It's just "left, right, up, down, rudder left, rudder right". I don't think there's enough spoileron deflection on the NGX in comparison to the NG

I opened a thread on this subject some weeks ago, but RSR closed the thread with some rather unfair comments aimed in my direction. IMO, and according to data I have, the ailerons don't move quite as much as real life, but spoiler movement is very under done. The same goes for speed brake deployment at the flight detent. There are other spoiler issues. If you turn the wheel with the speedbrake extended, the NGX spoilers on the up-going wing go straight to zero. In the real NG they move towards zero in proportion to wheel deflection.Obviously the control surface animations have no effect on the handling of the NGX but it would be an improvement if they moved more like the real thing.Kevin Hall

I hope more in a fix of flight controls with hydraulics off...But, if also the travels are adjusted is better... :)

If it could be of any help to the PMDG staff:flight spoilers are at their maximum positions when the control wheel turns more than 70 degrees or when the speedbrake lever moves to the UP position.Flight spoilers 2, 3, 10, and 11 move up a maximum of 33 degrees. Flight spoilers 4, 5, 8, and 9 move up a maximum of 38 degrees. The flight spoilers start to move up after 5 degrees of speedbrake lever movement. The flight spoilers on each wing move symmetrically. When the speedbrake lever moves more, the flight spoilers on both wings move more. When the speedbrake lever is in the flight detent, flight spoilers 2, 3, 10, and 11 move to 19.5 degrees. When the speedbrake lever is at the UP position, these spoilers move to a maximum of 33 degrees. When the speedbrake lever is in the flight detent, flight spoilers 4, 5, 8, and 9 move to 24.5 degrees. When the speedbrake lever is at the UP position, these spoilers move to a maximum of 38 degrees.immaginerxu.jpg

Thank you first for all the answers ...So does that mean I forget the thread? So there is no solution ...In clear text, it is poorly simulated ...

No, move the control wheel, it is probable that also you can move it of about 45°left and right. The result is what you see.I think that the problem is not the speedbrake logic itself but the wheel travel limited to the 45° (L & R) while the real reaces 107° L and R.You have maximum speed brake deflection (with speed brake lever down) when wheel reaches 70° L or R.So, if the wheel will never reach that value, it is obvious tat the full deflection cannot be reached.

So should I put the speed brakes to 70 then it looks right

So are PMDG going to fix it?

The speed brake lever seems to work correctly, except for few things, what is working wrong is the wheel that is limited to 45°.Also the animation is not working very well as when turning slowly you can see spoilers, on the wing that goes up, that comes fully down, there is no modulation on them, only when rising more (opposite wing) there is a modulation.
So are PMDG going to fix it?
No voices from them...

This is all fixed for SP1b. Part of the NG maint manual was incorrectly interpreted and that's what caused the low values - it's right now.
