November 23, 201114 yr In the past few months I did a lot of flights using autoland and never had a problem. But today all of a sudden the autopilot disconnects without any reason.( I touch nothing, the flying is smooth,no turbulence )It sometimes happens when cruising, sometimes on approach )I wonder if anybody else had similar problems and how can it be corrected ?Anything in the config files ?I will try to delete and reload the MD-11 to see if this helps.Hubert Werner Herbert Werni
November 23, 201114 yr If I had to guess I would say that you are experiencing some dramatic wind changes that are causing the AP to bail out. Are you running an aftermarket weather program? Branton Turner
November 23, 201114 yr Author If I had to guess I would say that you are experiencing some dramatic wind changes that are causing the AP to bail out. Are you running an aftermarket weather program?I use Real Environment. What is strange that never before I had this problem and today just oneA/P disconnection after the other.Do you suggest to delete the Real Environment ?? Herbert Werni
November 23, 201114 yr If there is weather problem the autopilot would disconnect NAV and PROF and use it flight envelope protection until it is in safe areas again. Then it would revert to speed/heading/altitude but not disconnect itself. At least not on my computer. Manfred G. Ships are cooler that you think.
November 24, 201114 yr Did you calibrate the yoke (joystick) before the flight? Normally A/P disconnects only if you apply too much force on control column. In your case it is joystick. If you do not calibrate it, or it makes erratic signal, A/P will disconnect. It is possible that your game controller has gone mad. :)
November 27, 201114 yr I had the same issue today.. I was using real weather but the wind was only at 10kts and the plane started to descend regardless of what i did to maintain my cruising altitude...
