Best place to find real-world route maps

Featured Replies

Hey everyone! I have a question:I can sucessfully complete the tutorial flight, but I do not know how to do any other routes. For Example: I don't know how to fly from KLAS to KLAX and finish in an ILS into runway 24L. Does anyone recommend a website I can find out the best route with all the information such as SIDS, STARS, and the correct waypoints? Thanks to much!!!

Best Regards,

How about this one: http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/It's pretty self explanatory. Enter departure and arrival icao code, flight levels, and select whether or not you wish to use SIDs STARs and so on.The freeware/payware vRoute is also pretty good.

I get most of mine off FlightAware. An example of the flight you want to run..http://flightaware.com/live/flight/AWE106Sure, that's an A319, but the route is likely to be aboutthe same. If you click on "decode" to the right of "route",you will get the full route, which is.. KLAS BOACH4 HEC RIIVR2 KLAX Name Type Latitude Longitude KLAS Origin Airport 36.0800556 -115.1522500 BESSY Waypoint 36.1076944 -115.2896111 WITLA Waypoint 35.9783056 -115.3508333 JEBBB Waypoint 35.9106389 -115.3851389 BOACH Reporting Point 35.6782222 -115.2946944 HEC VOR-TAC (NAVAID) 34.7970278 -116.4629167 HEC VOR-TAC (NAVAID) 34.7970278 -116.4629167 DYPSO Reporting Point 34.7443611 -116.5126944 GRAMM Reporting Point 34.1091111 -117.1068333 RUSTT Reporting Point 34.0482222 -117.2424444 HABSO Reporting Point 34.0401111 -117.3310000 CIVET Reporting Point 34.0344167 -117.3908889 RIIVR Reporting Point 34.0283889 -117.4566111 KLAX Destination Airport 33.9424955 -118.4080684 But.. being as I run real weather, the runways in use willvary, and will never be etched in stone. So before planning the route, the first thing I do is check theATIS for the runway in use at the departing airport.Once I know that, I can plug the route into the FMC.And being as the arrival runway will vary, I don't plan thatuntil I start getting close. I don't enter the arrival and runwayuntil I know what they will be. My WX updates every 15 min,so that can change at any time during the flight. Also, the ATC I'm using will vector me to the runway, so Ialmost never get to do an automatic LNAV/VNAV approachand landing the way I've been running things. But the real world is about like that too I think..Skyvector is good for charts, and you can also downloadthem from the FAA site.. At least for now.. :/I'm using the stock FSX ATC, and using Simroutes toplan the flights, which then can be saved as an FSXflight. This way I can run LNAV/VNAV most of the flightwithout the FSX ATC trying to vector me off in a goofydirection I don't want to go. With Simroutes, I can filethe plan exactly as it's entered into the FMC. In mostcases, I can fly LNAV/VNAV almost all of the wayBut most all landings I have to follow ATC vectors tothe runway. That's how I've been doing it anyway.. I like FlightAwareas I run the real world routes that the airline I'm flying uses. The majority of mine being Southwest flights..I have a slew of flights made from Simroutes that I canpick and choose from. Most are already made up andready to go. Of course, if it's a new route, I have to jumpover to Simroutes and make one before I take off..Simroutes can also spit out the rt files for PMDG planes, but I don't use that.. I like to punch all my stuff into theFMC manually..

That's exactly the route I flew last night even down to the landing runway. I used flight aware. You just need to check where the STAR begins.

Hey fellas, does anyone know what route planner can be imported into the NGX? I don't mean having a generated plan and then having to type it directly into the CDU. I am after something similar to Gplan, where you have a map, can plot a course visually, adding waypoints where you want them, saving the plan, which in turn shows up on the aircraft. At the moment I'm unsure this can be done in the NGX. Does anyone know differently, cheers...

How do you find out where the STAR begins? Thanks for the tip about flight aware.

The transition ("start of the STAR") will usually be a fix close to the direction of your arrival direction. The transition will always (okay, not always but typically) be a VOR/VORTAC station. This one is hard to explain for me not being in person.
