Tupolev Tu-154M - toughest airliner!

I always find it funny at how afraid English speakers can be of the Cyrillic labels on the panels. With the detailed English manual its not really a problem. Russian and any other language speakers are certainly not afraid or intimidated by the predominantly English labels in FS!biggrin.png I haven't seen a single Bulgarian or Russian speaker (or any non-English speaker in fact) who has complained that, with the new PMDG Boeing 737NGX, everything in the cockpit is only in English.

Even if the PT planes had English panels, you will still need to read the manual in order to know what to do. There is nothing to be intimidated about, if you like the plane and don't know a word of Russian - read and follow the English manual - it has all the information you need and more. Just be aware that its a very realistic simulation and it takes some learning. Patience is needed, nobody is born ready to fly a complex airliner and 'pilots are not made in a day'. You'd also have to accept that this is not an Airbus or Boeing aircraft - Its a mighty Tupolev!laugh.png and different with its own advantages and disadvantages when compared to western aircraft.

I think that anybody who likes the Vickers VC-10 would also like the Tu-154. I know I like them both.

Yeh, thats easy to see, this aint the average freeware plane, alot of work had gone into this.

Indeed it's the might Tupolev! cool.pngIts the fact that its not a boeing or airbuss that attracts me to it, and i like to learn new things and have a challenge, so im very much looking forward to sitting down with manual and getting this baby airborn :) ...just no time at the mo sad.pngCan you recomend a good freeware VC-10?..(preferably with a VC)...or payware even? Thanks.

Not everyone knows or wishes to learn English. No one language is universal and more important than all others. For example there are more people in the World who speak Mandarin or Spanish than those who speak English.

Can you recomend a good freeware VC-10?..(preferably with a VC)...or payware even?Thanks.

Excellent VC-10 here:

http://www.dmflights...ickers_vc10.htm

Sadly no VC (we all keep hoping she'll get updated with one eventually).

Thanks to 'vololiberista' there is a remarkable and realistic panel upgrade in AVSIM Library for it too:

new_vc10_panel_part_1.zip

new_vc10_panel_part_2.zip

new_vc10_panel_project_3_maintenance_1.zip

new_vc10_panel_project_4_maintenance_2.zip

nav_info__bmps.zip

There was also a payware VC-10 with a VC from Addictive Simulations (http://www.vc10.com/). Its dated now and was compatible with FS9 and FS2002. It had a decent VC for the time and a very nice outside model. I liked it and enjoyed flying it when it first came out. Overall, however, the freeware VC-10 above is more realistic and is what I prefer now.

Thanks Momtchil, great info there.Shame about the VC..i struggle with 2d panels (veiw wise).

Unbelievable !!!Too pity I have a hard time to understand and fly correctly the free TU154 for FS9. Flightsimmers considerPMDG and LDS aircraft complex. They simulate almost all systems and failures but..... Go start-up the 154 from cold and dark and see the difference... no to say engage the autopilot and install scenery to navigate with that old Russian system.....(I don't remember the name)

Waiting for the 64-bit PSION Flightsim for ZX-Spectrum ////

Thanks for the videos.

RT (Russia Today), were the only international news channel to report on the incident, at the time it happened. Contrary to indications in the final parts of the RT report, Alrosa did decide to repair and continue flying the plane after the crash.

Interesting to see the passengers in the cabin and the forest outside, in the other video. Got to have admiration for the Russian passengers - right after the accident they went for walks in the forest and hunted around for mushrooms!

lol..they were calmer than passengers on a normall landing...Hats off to them.If somthing like this happend in the UK, im sure it would have been pandemonium!.....screaming, people crying, trying to climb over eachother to get out...not on this planes though, the passengers kicked back, feet up, and ordered a coffee, lol.

Ok, im impressed with the fsx model..Here are some shots :At the moment it loads cold n dark...and i havnt got a clue what to push or pull.I can seem to get power, but i dont know if its the APU or battery switch im movin(it's all in russian), and control E doesnt do it either, just spools the engines up...guess i need to find the fuel valves.Looking at the files it looks like there is a co-pilot that give you call out's in russian too. :) aswell as other custom sounds. In the 2D panel there are english tool tips if you hover the mouse over so that may help me.The exterior textures take a few seconds to load..no biggie, just they are 4096 resolution textures. For freeware,i give the VC 10/10..All the essential guages are crystal clear.Exterior model 9/10...and i havnt even started the engines yet, or flew it, and its still in beta..Very good indeed.
Theses tutorials on you tube might help to get it up and running. They are for the Tu154M, i have the B2 tutorials somewhere but, I can't find them at the moment

Me too. It took me about 30 mins to learn the Cyrillic alphabet. And I'm British, so naturally incapable of speaking foreign languages. Apart from Polish that is, but I live in Poland so I suppose that doesn't count ;-)

After a lot of deliberation for years of flight simming on and off, I finally got around to learning how to fly the PT Tu-154M. I can understand those who have an apprehension about learning the cryllic alphabet just to fly this plane. Even as a multilingual, it can be quite an intimidating thing. But rest assured, if you find Russian language intimidating to learn, you can still fly the plane in FS. I watched one "Project Tupolev Tu-154M Quickstart"video on youtube and after I practiced the startup process a few times, I got the hang of what is what and carried on from there. It was an exhilarating experience to say the least, my only regret is I didn't learn to fly it sooner. For those who are yet on the fence because of the complexity of the aircraft, take this up as a challenge and see if you can master. It will take your flight simming experience to a whole new level, there is possibly no other aircraft for Flight Simulator that can quite match the experience of this masterpiece.
