November 29, 201114 yr Are there any RW Q400 pilots who would be willing to swap emails or something? It's my favorite aircraft and when I get my license in a few years, I'd dream to fly for Porter. I have a few questions with regards of the operation of the aircraft. Any takers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!Best regards, Cameron Caldwell CPL (A) King Air 200 Pilot
November 30, 201114 yr Hi Cameron,Just curious where you are going to flight school. I went to Island Air on Toronto Island (Billy Bishop) where Porter fly's out of. I now live in Wellington, New Zealand next to the airport here now.I miss flying around all those Q400's in the little C150's. Porter is a great airline, best in Canada so hopefully you get to work for them.Cheers Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
November 30, 201114 yr A close friend of mine has recently upgraded to captain with Colgan on the Q'. I'll see what I can do, but he's stand-off-ish with people he doesn't know. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
November 30, 201114 yr Author Thanks guys I really appreciate it! ytzpilot, I'm still in Grade 12, and I've applied to the Conestoga College which flies out of WW. If I make it in, I'll be flying DA-20's out there. I sit here day to day wishing that I was in the air. It's almost to the point where it's getting on my nerves. I just have to fly... December 1, 201114 yr Author I sure do hope so ;) I'm 18 and I've wanted to fly since I was 6. I've been flying on Flight Simulator since 9! So I really can't wait for the real day to come :) Cameron Caldwell CPL (A) King Air 200 Pilot
December 1, 201114 yr Hi Cameron,I can relate, I grew up in Markham and my Grade 12 year was dreaming of Flight School as well and many hours on FS4 (back then).Give the Aviation & Flight Technology program at Seneca College a good consideration as well. At least apply to more then one school as it is good to have a back-up. The Seneca program has a great reputation, and it is not too far from home for you.http://www.senecac.o...chool/aviation/All the best with your journey and make your dreams come true. So I really can't wait for the real day to come :)I was the same way. Bitten at the very young age of five at an airshow. Infatuated by age 8 with my first ride in a C172. In <3love<3 with it at age 10 because of FS98 (the first sim I could call mine). My mom got it for me at a Sam's club in the bargain bin, of all places (I had been begging for it for a year). Mom and dad let me start flying my senior year in HS.It's a process Cameron! One that takes your entire life. See if the local EAA has anything to offer in the mean time in the way of flying or needing help at meetings and with washing aircraft, etc. Apply for a job at the local airport's FBO. I was a lineman at the airport for 5 years throughout my flight training from age 16-21. Not only did I get a discount with the flight school for that, but I got close with everyone and had plenty of time to hangar fly. If you want it badly, start right away. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
December 1, 201114 yr I wish I could go back and do it all over again, I miss training so much. Now that it is just a job it takes some of the excitement out of it. Hopefully though when we get our airplane back it will give me that spark again to learn our airframe all over again. Chris Miller
December 1, 201114 yr Author Now that it is just a job it takes some of the excitement out of it. Disregarding this ;) I know many pilots who love their jobs! A close friend of mine went from a right seat in a 757 back to a 208 in FedEx just because he liked the smaller plane deal. You just have to find your part.Zach, I'll definatly look into this! Though college/flight school integrated is my way to go. I'll be flying in less than a year! It's too much to think about haha! Cameron Caldwell CPL (A) King Air 200 Pilot
December 1, 201114 yr Oh I love flying for a job but you have to make sure you take your pay and don't do anything for free. You have to remember flying is what we do for a living and not a hobby that pays for itself. Chris Miller
December 8, 201114 yr CameronI fly Q400s for a living, feel free to email/PM me.RgdsDean Rgds Dean May Happiness is a limp windsock
