Major Stutter in FSX

I think he read your topic title, saw the screenshots of my settings and came to a wrong conclusion... happy.png
Oh ok. Well I am surprised with your settings how well it performs, but I keep getting these flashes randomly, looks like scenery flashes as I fly. I just cant believe it is taking this much to tweak with such a good set up for me. I watch these youtube videos and some of these people have weaker systems then me and are getting amazing FPS and smoothness. I just want to be able to have smooth performance and as long as my FPS are 15+ i am happy.

Sounds like you have Pools=0 set... that can cause random flashes.Go back to either setting a specific bufferpool size or just leave the Bufferpools section out altogether..If all you want is stable performance, you really should get rid of the tweaks thatare meant to squeeze additional performance out of the system at the expense of stability.

I don't know which settings you are using right now, but be sure to have water at High 2.x and also use the highmem tweak: those should help with artifacts. Somehow lower water settings can cause artifacts. Well, not the setting itself, but certain tweakd with current hardware need water to be at High x2.And yes, it is odd we still need to tweak this much to get good performance. However, do not let all those video's fool you because I know some (or a lot) of people record their vids at 1/2 time speed and then speed it up to normal speed in their video editor. Hence the smoothness...!!! Specially the awesome looking supersmooth official company video's have been made using this trick... And quite a few of the video's are recorded at a lower resolution than you would normally play at, meaning a resolution that matches the highest res (or even lower) of Youtube.

Which tweaks would you recommend removing? when I refer to smooth i mean still be able to run my add on airports and make it look realistic as possible

Delete Bufferpools section and try Affinitymask=14 as well as no Affinitymask. Also check that you have Hyperthreading set to off in the BIOS.My theory is: start with as few tweaks as possible and then add onlyone at a time, and fly it for a couple of days in between changes.

Everyone I would like to thank you for all of your help. I have finally stabilized FSX to my liking at 23FPS constant any location regardless of scenery. KORD was causing low FPS because I had aerosoft Chicago X installed now its perfect. The link below will take you to my screen shots for all my settings:http://mediafire.com/?6jf0j3qdv1jdeI only put these tweaks in fsx.cfg:AffinityMask=14HIGHMEMFIX=1PoolSize=0

hi i'm new to this thread and i also share with you the same passion of fsx and i say it is really addicting! anyway i just want to share what i did to fix my stuttering issue, btw here first are my specs:CPU: AMD Phenom X6 1100t @ 4.144 GHZMBoard: ASUS Crosshair V FormulaGPU: ASUS ATI Radeon HD 6970 2GIG DirectCUII @ 955/1430Mem: 16GIG Gskill 1600MHZ CL8Cooler: Hydro Series™ H80 High Performance Liquid CPU CoolerPSU: Cougar CMX 700WStorage: WD 1TB BlackCasing: Thermaltake Armor A60so here is what i did:1) followed Bojote's tweaking tool from this site: http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html2) added poolsize = 40003) changed my affinity mask to 62 from the original 56 from bojote's tweak, running fsx in 5 cores and making the first core vacant for other operations. i have 6 cores btw.4) changed TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=805) added in the [terrain], TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=1000 and TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=8006) putting the setting of frames to unlimited and i used the fps_limiter program to lock my fsx at 30fpsthat's basically it. here is a video from my youtube channel where at first you can clearly see my stutters:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uz2SqrGeFd8and here are couple of my videos after all the tweaking and experimenting of my fsx.cfg, it already runs smoother:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfiC0q-ZfoQhere are other videos of mine:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6fBEOaKHas

Noyvalix,Hey thanks for posting vids and stats on your pc. Yeah its a pain to get things working smoothly. I was going to go with the AMD but could not pass on the i5 deal I got. I believe majority of my stutter was causing by Nvidia Inspector. once i set my AA Mode to ENhance bam stuttering went away. I will try some of your tweaks and see where I end up.

noyvalix,So far everything is smooth. I havent had issues. Only complaint i have is aerosoft airports really drop my FPS for some reason. FSDT which is better and more detailed is smooth as butter. I dont get it. Even on some of my default airports ill drop down to 15s but its still smooth. I fly the iFly 737NGX the most and its super smooth. I have the PMDG 737NGX but it just goes crazy and doesnt want to maintain good FPS for some reason.

Noyvalix,Tried your recommendations and it didnt go too well. I dont know why. Anyone,Here is my concern at this point any aircraft I fly with VC i get 10-15FPS but smooth graphics, i like it. I know that the FPS counter is irrelevant but once I go to outside view i start getting lag and at times very heavy. This is with a default aircraft and with add on the same thing VC is beautiful, but exterior horrible, any ideas, anyone?

flight1986,hmmmm how much percentage is your traffic? im guess yung traffic addon eats up your resources.

try running fsx without AffinityMask. My old Q6600 run fine without AffinityMask, but has major stutter with AffinityMask=14
My Q6600 runs well with AffinityMask=15

FSX + Acceleration + UTX Eu v1.4 + GEX Eu v2

Dell XPS 420 Nvidia 8800GT
