December 1, 201114 yr Wow! I just took on the Gatwick tutorial. Apart from taking about 45 minutes to set up the FMC I still made a bags of it. My climb speed didn't engage ( got stuck at 165Kts) and I flew straight passed a way point. Still though I appreciate the learning curve. I can see that learning to program the FMC is a mighty task in itself and probably requires some quality training. I'll probably have to take the Angle of Attack training package to get the most out of this beast. Anthony O'Brien
December 2, 201114 yr Just keep pluggin' away at the FMC, eventually it'll just 'click', and you'll do it asleep, lol.You may of had the FMC setup correclty but didnt push the right buttons on the Autopilot. Regards Luke M
December 2, 201114 yr @ Anthony1968.These 2 pics will help you understand the preflight page sequence that is recommended by Boeing.Pic 1 shows the recommended page sequence andPic 2 just shows that you might also want to enter your Departure info while filling out the route page.Once you use this method a few times it becomes second nature.Hope these help a bit.Fred. You also have a lot of these in your NGX Questions and Answers thread. Do you still have a 737NG training manual from your pilot career or something? Arjen Vandervelde
December 2, 201114 yr Angle of Attack is going over the NGX very completely. They just released their "Ice and Rain Protection" video and it is really informative. I'm sure when they get to the FMC, they will cover it very completely. If you want a great beginners course, try the 700 Guide for PC Simulators by Captain Mike Ray. It will get you comfortable with the FMC with some really very enjoyable reading.http://www.utem.com/...duct_detail&p=4 Robert Yunque
December 2, 201114 yr Author Thanks for all the tips everyone. Those pics by RYR738 are very helpful. I'm going to have another attempt atthe tutorial today. If all goes well I'll go and try creating my own route with SIDs/STARs and see how things go. Mike Rays book looks very interesting also, I would purchase the download version but it can't be printed.I've been flying MSFS since 1998 but this is a great new challenge, it's almost like a qualification in itself.
