The roads are generated with XPOSM.Osm2xp only generate buildings, forests and obstacles (lightouses, cranes, water towers etc...)I think that there is a way to use XPOSM for roads, but with a transparent texture, so you have the photoreal roads, but with traffic. You can also just use osm2xp, without XPOSM, so you will see default xplane roads (if using XP10 that should mix nicely, as they are using osm for roads).

No worse than what X-Plane's currently creating in XP10. Bridges floating in mid-air... etc. In other words... one can always find exceptions of specific issues... but that wasn't my point... and I think you actually know that.In FSX all the airports have plausible design... as in most of the runways and taxiways and aprons are in place as well as important buildings. In X-Plane... not so much.In FSX all the landclass layout is such that it recognizes (for the most part) the difference between a town, a city and a metropolis and the buildings displayed show that. In X-Plane... not really. In FSX there are a great deal of visual landmarks (used for VFR flight) in place. In X-Plane... not really. Is FSX perfect... heck no, but at $50 it offers more accuracy and detail in default scenery than X-Plane offers for $80.
Then I got ripped off. I paid $100 for FSX and another $50 for Acceleration (which was basically a service update that is freely downloadable with a few extra default aircraft and a few extra missions that I never flew anyway...now THAT was a waste of $$). And I got a sim that looked nothing like the promo screenshot we all know, along with CTD's and OOM's and a local airport that just had 1 runway and no taxiways and buildings.

Don't forget to add the price for tools like Plane-Maker and Airfoil-Maker. These tools are not in FS. You'll also need to add the price of a decent mesh. Most parts of the world are just flat in FS.Comparing the price, why not, but then compare everything, including the expensive hardware and operating system you need to run it.Happy flying. :(

You've already been put in your place about the 'promo' screenshot - in fact you ran away and disappeared from the thread where you were humiliated;http://forum.avsim.n...o/page__st__100I'd also love to know how you managed to buy FSX for $100 - do you even know what the RRP was at release? You're just making things up! LMAO!As for Acceleration, it added a huge amount more than you've described, but no doubt you're fully aware of that since you must spend a fair bit of time constructing your lies. Not only that but you perpetuate them when an ACES developer himself comes into a thread and tells you that you are utterly and completely wrong.Since you've clearly never owned Acceleration (else you'd know what it added), let me make a list to help you out;- P51 Mustang- F18 Hornet- Augusta Westland EH101- Reno Air Races- Cross Country Racing- Sailplane Racing- Red Bull Air Racing- Aircraft carriers- Carrier landing capability- 32 missions- 5 additional sceneriesBy all means go away and find me a payware package that offers me that for the same money. And no, of course I don't mean $50 - Accelerations RRP was vastly below that..........surprise surprise.

If you say so. Doesn't really bother me how much you try to make me spill the beans on that fake screenshot. I'm not getting sucked in to your pathetic and childish games. And, yes, I paid $AUD98 for FSX about a week after it came out at a store called Electronics Boutique. Feel free to google it. Why don't you enlighten us all as to how much Acceleration added. I sure as heck don't know about it. Poor marketing on MS's part? And also please feel free to comment on the lies I have constructed and perpetuated. I'm definitely all ears (or eyes) on that one. I might even be willing to pay you a hundred bucks just to show me. You're making it hostile and personal, yet again. As well as jumping in on a conversation that really doesn't concern you.Keep going...please.And Phil Taylor threw a bunch of numbers out there that didn't really interest me. I appreciate his effort, but it was a waste of time. You don't like X Plane. You have no interest in X Plane. So why...are...you...here?Stop wasting your time and my time and do something useful with it.The thread topic is Boston OSM data. I hope you don't make a habit of thread jacking. Highly frowned upon.
Just one question... why isn't this part of the default installation?
Really, it's a bit unfair to look at what one person can do when they dedicate their time to single area and say, "O.K., why didn't Laminar do that for the entire planet?" Laminar was/is developing a comprehensive flight simulator package, and with limited time and resources they had to make some trade-offs somewhere.Besides, they're more aware of the deficiencies of their own design than even the most critical user (we're our own worst critics, after all) and have ideas for addressing those concerns as development moves forward.See this interview for more information:http://xplane10.word...n-mr-x-terrain/

FSX was over $100 in some places when it first came out. At least in Australia it was.

Actually, you're right. I think I paid $120 for it here in Sydney when it first came out. And I still remember saying "Is THAT it?"Thanks for clarifying that, Jason.Back in yer box, Howard.Just go away.

Oh, just stop, O.K.? You're really sounding like an FSX ######.Besides, FSX was $80 if you bought the special edition package at launch (not including the Acceleration add-on which came out later), and as for offering "more accuracy and detail in default scenery", I think you need to take off the rose colored glasses before praising FSX for its graphical fidelity. Trust me, there's a lot there that deserves criticism.

Ok, pay very close attention, "Howard". Here's a screenshot I posted a few days back to show Tierborn I had FSX after he questioned whether or not I had it.Let's see if you can find the key area.2-12-2011%209-36-58%20PM.pngOh, what's that in the top left hand corner of the FSX intro screen? Does that say "Acceleration"?And Accelerations retail, here in Sydney, was $49.95. So you are correct. It was below $50.Keep posting....until you get this thread locked.
......
Then that only proves you have no excuse for your ignorance....Congratulations.
