Do (can) they listen to music when flying? Is it allowed? read somewhere sometime ago there were pilots did this. I just can not stop imagining being in a flight deck in a long haul flight and listening to Miles.

For the airlines most likely not. For me when I pickup the aircraft in a few days it will have xm and a sound system in the back.

A sound system in the back? Like speakers and such? DangMy GNS496 has an XM subscription that, along with weather and TAF/METAR data, has XM radio as well. I can route it through my headset for those long flights (pipeline). A friend of mine has a decked out C210 with a CD/MP3 player in the panel.

Sure, just tune the ADF to the local AM radio station.

Doesn't have to be local when it's AM!

Don't forget the Lightspeed Zulus have Bluetooth and the Auto Volume Music Control for those times when Radio Transmissions interupt your Favorite Artist...

That and the Bose A-20s. Too bad BT kills my phone/Ipod's batteries!

My Charter Pilot Buddy wishes he could find a Zulu trade for his Bose but hasn't found what he wants just yet...understood on the BT

As a professional musician I can't tolerate music in the air-as I start noticing that a natural was not in tune or the chord progression did not follow the antiquated rules of Palestrina in the 1600's..too distracting.

I purchased the Bose with BT second hand. The Zulus I borrowed from my friend last year pinched behind my ears. The Bose didn't (also they don't mess up my hair).

Well a part for the interior didn't come in so they are pushing the delivery back to next week sometime :(

I forgot. The G36 I used to fly had XM. That feature is available on all G100 avionics like the video.

These posts are repeated on a regular basis. Not only did we listen to AM radio tuned in by the ADF, we played chess, or took occassional naps. (or is it now called NDB?)db.
