December 18, 201114 yr The short answer would be 'No' since the NGX uses it's own built-in landing lights as I understood it. For more information I suggest you read through this thread -> http://forum.avsim.n...e-sky-2012-ngx/ where the question regarding lights has been discussed a lot. YesOh really, are your sure about that? When this very same question was discussed in this -> http://forum.avsim.n...e-sky-2012-ngx/ thread the answer was that the NGX uses it's own custom and built-in lights and for that reason won't be affected by external texture programs like AS 2012, REX and so on when they install new spotlight.bmp files (landing lights) and fx_2.bmp (strobe lights).

The physical model of the plane will not change of course but the intensity of the Landing Lights, Navigation Lights and Strobes reflecting off the ground will change based on the light theme selected. The color tone of the landing lights will also change based on the theme selected. Ie Gold, White, Xeon.If you want the proof I will post the screen shots later after I land in Tokyo. Last night on a different flight I was using the theme that was made for me based on the weather conditions for my flight plan. It used the default which has the lights set to low intensity. I am now doing a different flight with 05 High Intensity Xeon installed and the lights are different from last night and super bright! Here is how I setup before my flight.1) Make Flight Plan with FS Commander 92) Load Activesky 2012 and Import Flight Plan and have it create a theme based on WX Conditions for the Route.3) Go to Graphics Section and select Lights-Spotlight and choose 05 High Intensity XEON and then hit the install button.Again you can do this with REX too because it has the same options. December 19, 201114 yr Okay apologies I can't for the life of me figure out what happened. :( As it stands it doesn't look like AS2012 affects the NGX lighting system. But on my first flight the landing lights were very dim reflecting off the ground and then the rest of my flights they have been very bright. Yes I was using different WX themes for each flight. I am starting to think that maybe the weather conditions had an impact on the intensity of the lights and maybe that is what I saw. Foot in mouth and Egg on Face. :( :( Paul Deemer
December 19, 201114 yr If the weather conditions indeed change the look of the lights (not sure if this is possible in FSX) that would be great since that is how it's IRL :smile:Would be nice if a FSX developer who knows for sure could comment on this.
December 19, 201114 yr Author Thanks guys.Is there a way of going back to the NGX defaults without re installing?. Those are definitely the better ones Matias SorcinelliCHECK MY CHANNEL!!! - http://www.youtube.com/user/masneoquil
December 19, 201114 yr Thanks guys.Is there a way of going back to the NGX defaults without re installing?. Those are definitely the better onesBefore installing new graphics, I'm pretty sure AS2012 makes a backup of your existing files... I did it manually, but perhaps? In the graphics tab in AS2012 you can select "re-restore og re-create backfiles" or something...MAs Martin Jensen
December 19, 201114 yr Yep, I can confirm in my case an initial backup was made automatically so you should be able to restore that backup and then make sure to deselect the light textures before installing the textures again.I also have the original FSX SP2 textures that is replaced by AS 2012 so send me a PM if you need them.
December 19, 201114 yr What's wrong with the landing lights in first place? I always find them looking really realistic. Except for some FSDT airports, because it also causes some strange color effects on the ground... Arjen Vandervelde

At least they didn't looks the same. That's why i was asking. If i use the NGX and the 747X the landing lights aren't the same. December 19, 201114 yr Yep, that is what I understood too that as for the NGX it doesn't affect anything having these files replaced.
January 19, 201214 yr Not my experience. AS2012 has recently changed my neat NGX landing lights into yucky "default" ones. Anyone have an idea of what texture this is, and do you mind helping me restore it?EDIT: Wait, scratch that. I'm mid flight and took off from Weeze. Perhaps the low visibility is the culprit here, as I remember the landing lights revert to the default look when visibility is below a certain mileage. I'll keep posted after I land 1 hr. from now.Yes, I know this is a resurrection. Sometimes that's the best way to help keep this forum "clean".
