Landing lights and AS2012

Every single cent.Why?- very stable platform to recreate the real weather- now has live creation of the current weather theme (loads much faster than REX)- no problems what so ever with PMDG- visuals are ver, very good, especially the low vis and cloud covers- no serious impact on the FSX FPS

Well, back to the topic. I loaded my backup textures through AS2012 and reinstalled the hi-def textures sans spotlight textures. Problem solved. And yes, Steve. This program is the staple of a regular simmer.

You *cannot* change the NGX's lights - they are all hardcoded into the model and are not .fx file based. It's the only way we could do the volumetric 3D light stuff that illuminates the scenery and it was the only way we could make the wingtip strobes and navs look right due to bugs in how the normal .fx lights look from different angles.

Then what the heck happened to my lights? I'll post screens tomorrow evening so no one thinks I'm crazy. Thanks Ryan for confirming.

I can confirm too that AS2012 changed my landing light.I restored the backup that AS2012 did and then unchecked the option to install the landing lights.

I only see aircraft strobes, not taxy/landing, in the AS2012 Menu.

I want to add also, that somehow the line TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096 was changed (maybe by me, when i change something under FSX settings) to 1024, and i think that also made the landing lights look funny.Zack, check if that line is at 4096 just to be sure.

Max_Load doesn't effect your landing lights. Anytime you change a display menu setting, this line in your .cfg will change back to 1024, the default. Thanks for the heads up, though.

Guys, As Ryan said, the NGX does not use the landing lights that you see on other aircraft, but the landing lights are part of the model- something that cannot be changed by changing those cone-light-texture things. What you may be seeing is the different way that the lights light up the AS2012 hard surface textures compared to what you had before.

Thanks!

I realize that, Nick. Ryan made that clear. My question isn't so much directed towards PMDG, but rather Ryan (as a fellow Flight Simmer who uses these programs). Under certain circumstances, I can reproduce the harsh cone lights with the NGX. Not so much an NGX issue, of course. Either way, it happens, but I don't have time to mess around with it this weekend.
