Unrealistic FSX cloud issue

Featured Replies

Thanks people for your help, however will AS2012 definitely rectify the cloud issue as it seems very much an inherent FSX code issue. Has anyone else experienced this cloud issue where clouds in the distance superimpose on those closer? (See images above). The problem spoils the realism significantly but surprisingly, can't find any information on it from the internet. As such, it suggest it is a problem specific to my set-up. Maybe people have not noticed the problem. Is it a wide-spread FSX issue? Thanks, Mark.

Get REX then. You won't be disappointed! And speaking of REX, they're launching a new update called Essentials that will make it even better!
THAT IS A NO GO FOR ME.HIFI made a crucial choice of adding runways, txwys, textures and improving the clouds textures, I'm convinced that they will be well rewarded for this. THE DEPICTION IS FANTASTIC !!!!

Lol. I think you've gotten your answer from the other guys. Either way, I've never had that issue on this rig and I also use ASE. I'll try and get Jim's attention.

Who's Jim?

All,This "bleed through" is due to the thin nature of the clouds around the plane vs. the different colored clouds in the distance. You need to use better cloud textures like the ones that come in AS2012.

Who's Jim?
Me, one of the old-timers who has tried to gather and share as much knowledge of FS as I can.

REX does all that.

REX does all that.
Diego, ActiveSky is the best weather depiction program. Trust that from the mouth of a pilot (thermals, wake turbulence, everything feels right). REX has reigned champ for textures but it's got some real competition now.TO THE OP: Try these for now. https://sites.google...uds-screenshots (V3)

Lol. Sorry Diego. I'm passionate about my weather programs.BTW, I just purchased AS2012. I'll be at the flight school today (watching the phone and the Panther's game) but will try a mini review later tonight. The program is a huge download, so yeah...

This problem isn't fixed in AS2012. You can still see dark stratus through lighter cumulus at certain angles.

Are you using the textures that come with it? What angles? There are certain limitations to the FSX engine, but the OP's issue/pics is/are an extreme case.

This is why I think it is an inherent problem of FSX which can't be fixed by any add-on.

Have you tried the freeware I linked to you? I've yet to see you try and remedy the problem!
