  1. I really hope LR do not modify the haze...I find it incredibly realistic and true to life. The unlimited visibility of the other sim is unrealistic in many weather situations.
  2. Thanks all. I will stick to the Toliss Airbus.
  3. Hello, I'm considering buying an X craft E-jet V2...175 or 195. I'm very fussy regarding accurate VNAV calculations. So my question: Is it possible to enter descent winds into the FMS (as per the real aircraft)? Without this an accurate TOD cannot be realised. Thanks for your help.
  4. Weather in XP12 is incredibly realistic. If you wanna experience what flying through frontal cloud layers is truly like.....XP12 excels to the point that I plan my flights just to fly through frontal cloud layers! I'm a IRL pilot and meteorologist working for the UK met office....and believe you me...the depiction of all clouds types - cirriform, convective clouds (including CBs and normal shower clouds) and multilayered stratiform frontal clouds is mind-blowing...no exaggeration! It's amazing.
  5. Yes I totally agree. The cloudscape in Xplane 12 is leaps and bounds above the competition. Last week I was flying over a frontal system....I was absolutely blown away by the various cloud layers... mostly stratiform (as it should be for a frontal cloud band) but with some incredible embedded convection. The realism is spot on.
  6. When are going to implement FMC winds?! That's a major show stopper for me...not able to calculate an accurate TOD in a strong head or tailwind 🙄
  7. I love the Toliss A32O NEO. Every flight is executed to perfection....managed descent just works flawlessly...meeting every altitude and speed constraints during the most complex STARs even during strong head or tailwinds...and it does so smoothly...with no fuss. It's perfection exemplified.
  8. Ha! Same...not a hospital but a silo at the end of the downwind leg left hand for RWY 12 at Cardiff!
  9. Try XP12...I have and never looked back!
  10. If this product can add haze to the atmosphere, then I'd likely purchase it. Can not believe MS2020 and 24 still can not simulate haze. It's outrageous!
  11. If you want proper CB's modelled correctly...XP12 is the way to go. Clouds and the atmosphere is far more realistic than MS2024...and that from a IRL pilot and meteorologist.
  12. I respect your position on this. However, try this out (without the haze modifier lua)...climb up to 35,000 feet somewhere over the UK during midday where there are few clouds. Often you can see for many many miles out across the countryside to the point where the scenery is no longer rendered. This implies the visibility is greatly in excess of 20, 30 miles or more. Visibility is accurate. I think enhancing visibility anymore would be comparable to MS2020/24 which of course is totally inaccurate. Have tried the latest beta without the Haze Lua...you might find the haze has been toned down somewhat compared to previous betas.
  13. I am concerned with all this discussion regarding haze that it will be the catalyst for LR to regress into that depicted by MS2024...clear almost unlimited visibility! This would be sacrilege. As an IRL pilot and having flown many years in the UK...the haze depiction in XP12 is accurate!! In fact the latest updates seemed to have toned down the haze. Haze is a prominent atmospheric phenomena which if diluted down anymore by LR...will become unrealistic translating into an atmosphere too clean and clear. I'm not suggesting the atmosphere cannot be clean and clear however this is the exception to the rule in many locations around the world.
  14. Since the update of Xplane 12 clouds and lighting... I've not touched the competition and never will again. The Xplane 12 atmosphere is incredibly realistic... especially adding Visual XP to the mix where you can adjust the appearance and density of the clouds. I've spotted all sorts of cloud types realistically depicted that I've never seen in the other sim....and as a satellite meteorologist, I am very satisfied with what the weather engine emulates. I'm very hard to satisfy in this regard. Flying through frontal cloud layers is my favourite activity... it's so word not allowed realistic...including fallstreaks!
  15. I really adamantly disagree with you on the haze. XP12 haze depiction is very realistic and does not need to be toned down. We'll end up with a simulated atmosphere like MSFS2024 -almost unlimited visibility with no depth at this rate. From many years of IRL flying in the UK...XP12 haze depiction is dynamic and accurate.
  16. That's all understood. Try spawning say in Yellowstone in the mountains where the air is normally exceptionally dry. No haze...can see for miles which is meteorologically correct. For me the haze adds realism and depth to the atmosphere where appropriate.
  17. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/89ltu4mcaqsteby2tfvhb/FB_IMG_1742578443553.jpg?rlkey=qrutyk61c2uyu8hv78zgu93vc&st=it0xhipg&dl=0 Here's an example from the plane....notice the haze in the distance and this was on a really good day. Normally it's worse during an inversion.
  18. I can assure you as a GA pilot of a 4-seater light aircraft who flies from Cardiff airport...that screen shot is spot on in terms of visibility and haze. The UK has recently been sitting under an upper level high and very slack low level winds. There has been and still is a temperature inversion sitting over us which traps aerosols. High resolution satellite images of the UK and much of Europe clearly shows low level haze trapped under this inversion. Honestly now....your screenshot from aloft is perfectly accurate and is what I observe each time I fly in real life. Because of MSFS 2020 and 24 we are lead to believe the atmosphere is always clean with almost unlimited visibility. In reality it's the contrary. So when we see haze in Xplane we believe it's not accurate when in fact it is spot on.
  19. As IRL pilot...one of the reasons why I love Xplane so much is the realistic depiction of haze. It is very realistic and adds depth to the atmosphere. My understanding is that the GFS GRIB files the simulator uses for real world global weather includes visibility for depiction in the sim. In some locations Xplane will depict excellent visibility with no haze as per reality. MSFS2020 and 2024 depicts almost limitless visibility everywhere all of the time. Highly unrealistic and one of reasons why I don't touch these sims anymore.
  20. Couldn't agree more. The Toliss Airbus are amazing...enjoy every flight!
  21. Xplane 12.20 beta atmosphere is incredibly realistic. It just feels alive with proper representation of many cloud formations realistically simulated from stratocumulus to meteorologically correct CB's....all of which have different structures from single cells to large multicell storms...even embedded CB's within stratiform cloud layers. Overshooting tops are simulated even the cirrus cloud shield at the tropopause!! Medium level cloud like AC and AS are properly depicted. It's amazing and very satisfying flying through a frontal cloud band to experience authentic stratiform cloud layers rather than just lumpy cumulus clouds all of the time. Xplane even depicts virga (fall streaks) from cloud bases....just incredible. Cloud turbulence is realistic the severity of which is reflected in the type of clouds you fly through. Light turbulence in stratiform compared to more severe chop in cumuliform clouds...all very realistic. Upper clouds (cirriform) cloud decks are also realistically depicted including cirrus, cirrocumulus and cirrostratus. I love the way the simulator properly emulates the smaller lumpy appearance on the tops of many cloud layers due to convective turnover. Above all this though is the simulation of actual HAZE... globally represented rather than these highly unrealistic rings of mist or fog around an airfield based on a metar. The atmosphere has actual depth to it....rather than almost complete unlimited visibility all of the time. For me I only use XP12.
  22. Don't think that would work for me as I use a realistic field of view. I have to pan around the cockpit. Artificially enlarging the sun and moon would be most annoying.
  23. Yes exactly. The atmosphere in Xplane 12.20 is alive! The polar opposite in the other SIM.
