FSLabs is, indeed, in another league...

Featured Replies

Yesterday I purchased the 321 NEO, with that Cupon Discount available to CEO owners 🙂 , and today made my first short flight, between Glasgow and Dublin ( I didn't have that simming time slot available to enjoy an LR trip... ).

It feels just great, performs beautifully in my rig.

Loading passengers each time I use their standard "boarding system" because I do not own GSX, is still a task I easily forget whenever I stay away from FSLabs aircraft for a while, but after a few tries I believe I found the trick to start the passengers boarding and the cargo loaded.

The fuel I can never start it to automatically being fed into the aircraft so I go through "OPTIONS" and then under the "FUEL" section I manually laod the total fuel and let it distribute trhe fuel heavenly.

The MEL feature is really fantastic in recreating a true to live ecosystem when we fly these addons, and I haven't even started playing with malfunctions !

Some aspects of the flight dynamics really please me, like for instance, but not only, the asymmetric engine thrust effects. Failling an engine, specially during climb, surely puts the sideslip cue at work, and one really has to use feet work, and then rudder trim, to overcome the thrust / drag imbalance !

Landings also feel very realistic. I really like the way FSLabs has been able to model  the flare physics in their 321 CEO / NEO 👍

  • Fenix is just eye candy? That’s a big call.

  • Not horrible at all. I own Fenix and FSL. I only fly the FSL. Give me realistic systems over eye candy anyday.

  • The Fenix definitely does this when it’s cold out.     It also models ice buildup on the fan blades, to the point that if one side of the airplane is getting snowed on, and the fuselage is bloc

Thanks for this.  Have you flown in 2020 or 2024?   I’m yet to get it, but fall out with the Fenix due to the characteristics on approach and landing.  I just can’t get it right despite several thousand of simming hours over the last 30yrs!   I’m very tempted to commit but then get swayed away again.

Have the model issues such as wing flex been fixed?

Well, I use it with FS 2024 only.

Good question and a detail I haven't checked but will try to in my next hop - wing flex - although the NEO / LR is well known for being "tougher" / "sturdier" due to the structural reinforcements required by the additional tanks...

Pilots actually say the 321 NEO is a lot more prone to turbulence being "transmited" to the cabin & pax because of this additional rigidity ...

P.S.: I own and use and really enjoy A LOT the Fenix 320 too, but for the 321s I had been using the default Inibuilds, which I must say isn't that bad for a default airliner! Whish I had anything default made to that level of detail in my other sim Xp12...

...but still the crosswind behavior is simply wrong. The heading / track difference depends solely on wind and does not react at all based on sideslip when you press the rudder. That's the reason you drift away during a crosswind landing although you apply the right technique.

This interests me.  I nailed a landing in Storm Amy in the ifly Max in winds I wouldn’t haven’t dared attempt in the Fenix, for example!

Have to check that !  Thx for the hint !!!

EDIT : just tested it at LPPT, manually settings a 25 knot direct x-wind for rw 02.

Using the crab technique I was able to maintain the track aligned with the rw centerline, and when I uncrabed, while there was some drift it was minimized due to very slight upwind wing low.

It looked and felt ok to me?

I own both but prefer Fenix. I believe you may not aware about of realistic systems...

Fenix is just eye candy? That’s a big call.

One thing I've noticed with the Fenix that's got me wondering if it is correct is this: upon approaching the T/D I usually put it into 'DES' mode some 10NM from the actual T/D point. This puts it in a shallow 1000fpm descent up until it reaches the actual point on the PFD. More often than not it then enters a rather steep descent where I've seen 5.5-6 kfpm on a regular basis.

This obviously causes a significant bump in airspeed so spoilers are kind of mandatory in order to avoid overspeeding. Doing exactly the same in the ToLiss, this doesn't happen. I realise I might be doing something wrong here, but I'm wondering how the FSLabs reacts in this situation?

Been telling myself I *really* don't need another Airbus, but this thread has piqued my interest for the FSLabs one.. 🤪

For me they missed the Market for MSFS total 🤪  still missing there Concorde for MSFS, how can anyone be as lazy as FSlabs in this regard ????

And i am not interested in there A3XX Products, therefor i have Fenix..

I didn't like FSlabs at first. But now I'm absolutely crazy about it. The only downside for me is that it quickly drops the nose when landing. The Fenix is a complete piece of word not allowed when landing.
