December 31, 201114 yr I took a vacation from FSX to play a new game, and upon my return, I'm only getting a black screen even though I can hear the sim running. Instead of double posting, here's the link to my help request. That forum is virtually unpopulated, so I'm posting here to try to get me back into the air as quickly as possible. I'm having NGX withdrawal. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/358174-troubleshooting-assistance-needed-black-screen-after-a-few-weeks-away-from-fsx/ Chris Hicks
December 31, 201114 yr I'm going to agree with the posters in your other topic. It's most likely the graphics driver. You could try reinstalling it with the 'clean install' option, but you'll likely have to roll it back to your old driver. I'm debating on whether or not to take a break from my new game and roll back the driver just for Flight Sim....I sure hope MS Flight brings things into the modern age. I feel like a do more troubleshooting and tweaking than I do flying! Chris Hicks
December 31, 201114 yr Best scenario for future - run fsx windows on separate drive or partition then you can setup windows purely for fsx without having to change settings to play other games etc
December 31, 201114 yr Author Best scenario for future - run fsx windows on separate drive or partition then you can setup windows purely for fsx without having to change settings to play other games etcThere's only so many hundreds I can spend on FS before I start asking myself why I didn't use the money to actually go fly for an hour or two. December 31, 201114 yr Quick question, did you use the clean install option with the new driver? Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
January 1, 201214 yr I get that sometimes switching in and out of FSX. Changing to windowed mode (alt+enter) and then back again usually fixes it.Just a thought, although - like others hsve suggested - your vid card/driver might be the culprit.Cheers,Jeff Jeff Hunter
January 1, 201214 yr Author I appreciate the assistance guys. Not sure what the issue was, but a reinstallation of FSX fixed it. Back up and running with the 190.53 drivers. A 45 minute flight ended up being delayed by a few hours. The sims were not happy.NGX feels like new again after having been parked for a few weeks! Chris Hicks
January 1, 201214 yr It was probably your screen mode, next time try switching from full screen to windowed.
