Getting the stock FSX Haze textures back

Everyone:The texture backup is located in your AppDataLocalHiFiAS2012 folder... (note the LOCAL instead of ROAMING).An easier way to do this is to restore inside AS2012 (graphics/settings), then re-install the items you want (i.e. all but cirrus textures). The decision to remove the haze layer by default was made in part because of the many compatibility issues that come up due to some add-ons including haze and some not. By excluding this from the equation it makes things much more solid for users and much easier for us to support. Given that, if there is a big enough demand to have this back along with all the complications that come with it, we would certainly consider it.

Damian, is it only that one texture file that contributes to the default fsx haze layer, or is it multiple files. Currently for me it restored the fsx haze. I ask, because by restoring through AS, and then not importing the cirrus files from AS would leave the haze layer in, but also exclude all the other cool AS cirus textures.JB

Personally, I would like to see the option in AS2012 to have the FSX Haze layer. But don't only do it for me as it's almost as easy to just store away the default file and then paste it in after texture import from AS2012.JB

I would also like this back as an option. When I initially installed AS2012 this was the first thing I noticed since I was flying in an area with a 300' ceiling. Until I found this thread, and re-installed the haze texture the visibility was so unrealistic that I was about to return the product! Having added it back everything is fixed. I absolutely needs to be selectable in the UI. It would also be good if the "Visibility smoothing" could be enabled for non-DWC weather control systems.

The comments above relating to restoring the default fsx haze are interesting. The suggestion is that the original cirrus overcast 3 file should be pasted back into fsx texture folder. However I have installed the beta update. One of the issues was with the said cirrus overcast file. On checking I find that the original file is still in my folder! No matter how many changes you made to the graphics this file stubbonly remained. To see if this was related to the beta update, I performed a comple reinstall of AS2012, back to the original. Now I was back to a replacement cirrus overcast 3 file and no matter how many changes and flightplans made, no sight of the original. However after reinstalling the 'beta', following a flightplan graphics change, back to the original default. Again no matter how many changes to graphics the file remains as earlier found, unchangeable. My question is, has this happened to everyone who uses the 'beta'? If so is this reversion of the cirrus overcast 3 file intentional? And does it on its own re-instate the fsx haze layer? For information I'm using standard mode.Martin

Martin et al.I confirm, using the beta sp. I can't seem to restore any default textures by using the back up feature. I seem to have lost my default textures and the back up routine is restoring an AS2012 set.GD

I am not using the beta, so I cant confirm. So are you saying that even if you have saved the original cirrusovercast3 texture, that by replacing the one in as2012 you can not get back the default haze?JbSent from my iPhone using TapatalkJB

So figured it out...

If anyone else wants the stock Haze back for the upper and lower Visibility Layer...

Copy and paste the ORIGINAL cirrus_overcast03 into your /textures folder in FSX.

Both Rex and AS2012 will replace this file upon texture instalation. So if you install textures from either program, then just replace the file again.

Would you please PM me the ORIGINAL cirrus_overcast03.bmp file. I might have the original in the initial backup but I am not sure because I have installed the beta update. The file in the original backuo is dated 5-12-06 6:25am and is 342KB in size.

Thank you
