Anyone even heard of it?According to the Flight press releases it will be the only aircraft available until you sign into Live - at which point you also get a Stearman. So put your hand up if you've heard the first thing about this aircraft, which isn't even due to go into production until late 2012.Makes you wonder just how big the briefcase full of cash must have been.....

X-Planers know it for some time already:

I've seen one of the test planes (or maybe it was a mockup?) at the EAA Airventure airshow in Oshkosh the last couple of years. In my opinion the aircraft is an attempt to dumb down the complexity of flying an aircraft and try to make it more similiar to driving a car. Seems like a perfect fit for this "game", doesn't it?

The cockpit does look like the dashboard of a car.

Also there is no HSI / attitude indicator, no turn cordinator, and of course no IFR with this aircraft.

Yes, and that is exactly what they were going for. I've read interviews with the company in AOPA Pilot Magazine and EAA Sport Pilot Magazine.

Oddly enough there is an ADI, but it's not one of the major instruments, having been relegated to the lower left, 2.5" display......and what appears to be a T&B in the upper, center 2.5" position.http://www.iconaircraft.com/interior.html

Never heard about it until this morning either... Looks more fun than the AirCreation though!

I wonder if someone could make it for FSX... before spring :(.

Somebody already did. Here's the link:http://www.simviatio...m&ID=61&page=23I have not tried it.There's another one that might be more recent here:http://www.fs-freewa...-sport-aircraftAgain, I have not tried it.It might be downloadable here at AVSIM but I can't remember my file library credentials. Maybe somebody can do a search?

I just watched the "first-person" flight video on Icon Aircraft's website showing the CEO flying the aircraft around with a female passenger. Is it just me, or was the pilot being kind of reckless with his flying? In some parts of the video his left wing is within inches of striking rocks on the beach (you can see his wing's shadow almost meet the wing!)... He was microseconds away from crashing badly at what appeared to be over 90 mph. Of course that seems to be exactly the type of flying that Microsoft seems to be encouraging after watching the latest Microsoft Flight trailer.

Having looked at the requirements for the Sport Pilot License - I find it unbelievable. The minimum in-air training is 20 hours........

Heh at the video, thats exactly what a racing guy would think you do in a flight simulator! That CXC is ok for racing but if it is priced anywhere near the 50k for the racing sim then I would want at least 3dof.

I downloaded the A5 for FSX some time last year. It's quite a fun plane to fly.
