737 Eyebrow Windows

Featured Replies

Hello,I have seen that many new Boeing 737NG's have been made without "Eyebrow" windows. Is there still a 737 that rolls off the production line with these windows from time to time, or have they been removed from 737s altogether?

Thanks,

Kevin L

I think it's only really the military variants that come with eyebrow windows now. There's no need for them anymore.

What exactly was the original need anyways? I know some say cause the Bobby drivers need look at the stars and stuff ... :( In all seriousness though, has there ever been any real use for them?

Maybe ported over from the 707/727 days where one relied more on visual separation?

They were perhaps used for celestial navigation, and also used for increased visibility in turns.

Nope.Yup! Turning base to final is irritating without being able to see the runway. Extra weight and maintenance is the reason for completely discontinuing eyebrow windows.
