Hi,Am looking at buying a new Gigabyte GTX570 Super Overclocked for FSX.Will I be able to run the NGX with REX and Aerosoft add on sceneries with this card ? or will I be unhappy with its performance ?As I am on a budget of not much, what would be the lowest recommended graphics card for the above environments ?Any assistance / recommendations would be most appreciated. Thanks in advacneAdam

Gtx560ti is an excellent card for fsx & the price makes it a cinchEdit: go for the 1gb model, it's only about $210US and the 2gb could cause vas problems (not guaranteed, but possible)

The GTX570 is an excellent card although you could get by just as easily with GTX560TI. However it also depends on your CPU which is the most important part of your FSX Rig. The CPU is generally about 75 percent of your FPS while the GPU is the other 25 percent. But your not going to notice much of an improvement if your CPU is old and not able to keep up with the video card.A good combination would be a Core I5 paired with either a GTX560TI or GTX570.

As per my specs, i am using the 560Ti (1g) and it handles FSX, REX, Orbx-PNW, NGX, etc, etc with no problems. Just make sure you set up Nvidia Inspector appropriately for that card. Also as Paul pointed out, a lot depends on your CPU.Regards,

Just cut back on eating for the next couple of months, and use the money you save to get a GTX580. Best card there is for FSX. You'd be surprised how long you can survive on Ramen noodles.

Thanks guys, yeah sorry, I have an i7 920 on water cooling OC'd to 3.8GHz with 12Gb of Ram.Will compare the prices of the 560ti and the 570 and will see how they are.I would love to get a GTX580 but that would mean starving for another 6 months ..lol

560ti, 570 or 580 would all be good matches for your CPU. In the interests of bang versus buck however, you probably won't benefit much from the 570/580 over the 560ti except being able to run a little bit higher aa settings. My two 580's in sli & gt520 are probably marginally better than a single 560ti, but it also let's me have a 3-monitor wide vc and a 4th touchscreen for panels too.

I would definately get a 580. At the moment it won't perform 3 times as good at the GTX 560TI or something, maybe 3 fps or something more, but we're probably gonna be using FSX for another 3 years, and perhaps by then, a lot more heavy add-ons are there that will require a GTX 580. Or perhaps next year we'll all be flying the 737NGX in XPlane 10, who knows? So I suggest, also look towards the future, that's why I'm also gonna order my EVGA GTX 580 DS Superclocked within the next couple of weeks.

FSX uses mainly the CPU and it uses it in an ancient way being it an ancient game. ( no multicore etc.. ) The GPU plays a marginal role, my " old " ATI 5970 works fine.

If you do go for a 580, I'd recommend waiting a bit till the 6xx cards are out so you can take advantage of the price drop.

Took the words right out of my mouth. These high end cards are just too much for my wallet when they first get released. That's why my next upgrade will probably be to an old card.

FSX is CPU limited to be sure. But, an antiquated graphics card will be a huge disadvantage if the OP wants to take advantage of high res (particularly on a large monitor). For the longest time, I flew at 1600x1200 on a 21in. With my GTX580, I'm now running at 2560x1600 on a 30 in monior. I could never go back.
