Beyond CES

Microsoft marketing has been a failure on many counts, so how they handle Flight isn't a surprise. Anyone remember the Kin, Zune, Bob, etc...Oh, and they should have at least included a jet with Flight-- like the F18. I don't know many people itching to fly an Icon.

You mean: 'Flight is not for you'... :wink:I am waiting for some CES-reports of simmers, really... They know which questions too ask, although I doubt that the MS-boys in the MS-booth know any answers.
No they dont. My friend was talking to them at CES yesterday. He is not a simmer but I asked him to express simmers concerns about 'Flight' to the MS guys. Unsurprisingly, the MS rep was totally shocked and said he didn't know a lot about Flight anyway!

We cant buy whole cake even in little pieces as it will be missing key parts this time.I believe that we know everything needed about Flight already.
And I believe that you -along with some others- are going to wind up looking like the prize fools of the decade within the next twelve months (or possibly less). Keep digging.

Yeah, that is what I thought when I saw one of the MS guys trying to fly a plane from behind it and doing a poor job. He demonstrated about as much about not knowing how to fly as he did about not knowing much about FLIGHT. They probably don't want the demo guys there to know too much and therefore to talk too much and get off message, for obvious reasons. Managing staffers is always the most difficult part of trying to implement a complex comprehensive strategy. From experience I have found that at this stage it is best to have vital information contained on a who-needs-to-know-to-follow-the-plan basis.Kind regards,

Bill, Im not sure if I am reading your posts correctly, but lately you seem to be more pro Flight. After initial announcment of Flight, you were very negative.Has something altered your opinion or am I just not getting your sarcasm?

Yeah when its officially declared that Flight is going to get whole world, ATC, big PMDG quality jets and third party freeware support then I will admit that I am fool and will change my avatar to I love M$ picture and signature to M$ Flight - Future of Flight Simulation.Until that I refuse to do so as I myself wont count Flight as proper Flight Simulator without those.

Both of your suppositions are true as it happens.
  1. I am now more center of the road with a slight lean towards optimism based on events I am not allowed to discuss.
  2. I am trying to remind folks that having had egg on my own face already based on my own flawed tea-leaf reading, that it is possible that the outcome might be different when the final details of MS's plan are made public.

One of the most constant complaints about all previous versions is that there were folks who weren't happy because their favorite hobby horse wasn't well supported, or was completely absent, or that there was no good scenery for their country, or that "I never fly in XXX, so why include it., yada, yada, yada......what if this time around, everyone will be able to build up their version of "Flight" with only the features they are interested in? Wouldn't that be cool?

I see.Interesting.............Is the underlying functionality of FSX (navaids, radio, AI) etc, still present in Flight just not 'turned on' so to speak? (if you are allowed to say)and....are Microsoft aware / care about the most negative filled comments on a Facebook page I have ever seen?

As Bill said, ya gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away, know when to run. Don't count your money when you are sitting at the table. There'll be time enough for counting when the dealings done...

I think that sounds very interesting...........but only if 3rd party devs are going to come to the party!

That much has already been leaked...Oh you can be sure that they are aware alright, and far too busy to be distracted by it. Remember, there was just as much -if not more- of the same sort of hysteria just before FS9 was released, and just before FSX was released, much of it from the same folks who apparently didn't learn from history, or those who have simply failed to read history at all.

with FS8, FS9 and FSX yes, but with Flight, not necessarily, or rather, not necessarily all...don't know, but we will see sooner rather than later I think.

That remains one of the "Great Unknowns" at this juncture. Just because some fly-by-night website has made that hysterical announcement doesn't mean it is true......or that it isn't true either. No one knows yet. Until MS says one way or another, it remains merely one more topic of speculation.

Well, the last bunch of posts really got me excited again...! :(

I was just thinking about exactly this.!I have never flown to or in Japan for example, and I don't think I ever will unless I go there in RL. (I tend to fly to places I've been or am going to in RL)Other's have said that the potential is there for this to be the FSnext and looking at the videos I agree. Why would they bother with things like radio frequencies, VOR's and NDB's if it was all about flying through hoops?I'm quietly optimistic as to what Flight could/will be :(
