How would this mega-rig run FSX w/ add ons fully loaded?

Featured Replies

Can FSX utilize much of what this rig offers?: http://originpc.com/thebigo-config.aspToggle to the CPU Magazine Configuration--that is the one I'm wondering about. The dual XEONs to 4.3Ghz.

The problems (as I see them)Quad SLI EVGA GTX 580 FTW - Liquid Cooled -- really not worth the extra cost (just a large GTX580 would suffice)Primary Quad OCZ 50GB Vertex2 in RAID 0 (Overkill, and no TRIM support) -- and you still only have 200GbNot sure that Twin Xeons are the way to go (in any cost-effective sort of way)MSRP: $16,999.00 -- !!You could design a system that was more than adequate for a LOT less money.

Or, just get your pilots license.

That's just ridiculous... Two 1050W PSU's... and a liquid cooled XBox 360ROFL!A thousand processors and a million GPU's won't outperform a $1500 rig with an overclocked 2500K + single GTX570 in FSX, Noel

It will likely run about 10 to 20% less FPS (or more) with less fluidity and a tad lower quality than my machine does. Yes, I would put good money on that. When I look at that I think, a fool and his money are easily parted, not referring to OP, but anyone who would buy that for FSX.Kind regards,

ROFL. Man, my machine would perform better than that (in FSX). More fluid, better frames and less problems. The one thing though: it does look awesome!!I'd like OriginPC run this rig through FSXMark11. Or someone just buy it!

Good point LOL

DUAL 1050W PSUS!!!!!!! LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :LMAO: :LMAO: :LMAO:

You know what I did today? I put my rig onto measurement device for power... CPU on Prime95 = 300W power usage, idle = 140W, FSX flying = 280W. Given, FSX doesn't use the GPU too its max, but still... 2x 1050W. ROFL.

I guess FSX isn't able to use the 4 GPUs and dual Xeons. Maybe some day we will have a new core designed to access the awesome power inherent in more parallel processing approaches, multi core, multi GPU, multi CPU, etc. Until then, I may tap into Origin however the configuration will be way simpler, perhaps designed more for FSX and it's feeble ability to utilize modern hardware. Be nice to have a solid case, water cooling to everything, etc. Here is the power supply recommendation for mega system posted w/ the 4 GPUs, based on one of the PSS calculators: 1318W. The water cooling I would hope for would mainly be for quietness plus over clocked cooling. Tempting . . .

Winner! And probably add your instrument rating!
