Flight feels like a game...but there is potential

Featured Replies

Beta testing Flight for a few weeks now, it definitly has a "gamey" feel, and seems too simple. (I'm getting bored very quickly-that's where the add-ons come in) However, the GREATLY improved game engine and mechanics in Flight have potential for a greatly improved FSX experience. I just hope the add-ons for planes, ATC, etc. won't be too $$$...*crosses fingers*

I guess you forgot to read the agreement you signed to become a beta tester.

You won't be a beta tester for very long after breaking the NDA and MS finding out.Oh wait, your beta testing friends, that have been wrong twice now, have said that it is OK to share all this, right?

LOL... it's not like he's giving away anything that you can't gather from the official trailer.

I think we just have to give it time. As quoted from FSBreak, making it a simulator will not appeal to EVERYBODY, and only just us simmers, a small proportion of the customers. Making it a simulator will certainly be 'commercial suicide.' Perhaps something will pop up out from this platform, we just have to wait. Either way, we still have FSX, and maybe FS9.

Happy Flying,

It all depends on what MS decide to inject and the quality of those injections.ATC, SID and STARS, FMC, a strong weather engine etc. etc... if MS will do that properly there is a chance flight could be good. But, if they won't do that and in a proper way, well, I guess Flight will cease its appeal after few weeks. Now it's up to MS.

Sorry - I hate taking "partial quotes", but this part of your post sums up what I wanted to comment upon. Flight MAY cease its appeal after a few weeks to the hardcore sim crowd, but there are an incredible amount of consumers/enthusiasts/casual observers that it may NOT cease to appeal to. VFR simmers who like putzing around over beautiful scenery may buy other scenery packs, the "wouldn't it be cool to virtually fly a P-51/Piper Cub/T-34" simmers will buy other planes, others may be content using the base aircraft and buy the other islands just to complete all the missions/goals/etc.I understand the reasoning behind quite a few of the less than positive posts, but the market is so huge for this (if done correctly) that Microsoft may realize a continued revenue stream from MSFlight. Which bodes will for the sim community - the more of "us" there are, the more "they" will develop this and other sim platforms.

On a forum .. its actually a great practice. Often you see folks reply with pictures, youtube video and page long text. Hard to follow and a waste of storage/broadband space.
