Should I reinstall FSX after graphics card upgrade?

Featured Replies

Hello, I've just bought GTX560 Ti (to change my old GTS250 OC. Should I reinstall FSX (+addons) after graphics card change?Or I should only delete FSX.CFG file to rebuild hardware settings/entries.Thank you for advices. All best.

Adrian

Just rebuild the FSX.cfg and you´re fine.

Best regards, Steffen

I will be interested if you have any problems with that card. i would HIGHLY suggest using the drivers which come with the install disc until you read about all the issues others are having with recent drivers...275.33 and newer..before you go installing the latest ones. My GF 560ti ran fine until i updated the driver and it MAY have been actually damaged by these newer drivers. For the record it ran GREAT with the old drivers that came with the install disc.

I don't see any need to rebuild the fsx.cfg file unless you want to re-do all your config tweaks for the new card. FSX will write a new display.device section when it detects the new video card. If you want, you can comment out the other non-used display.device sections, but even that's not necessary.

Hornit, I have 285.62 version of drivers and have no problem after 2 weeks of testing. What kind of problems did you have (symptoms)?

Adrian

If you install a new GPU, always rebuild the FSX CFG and rebuild you shader cache.
