March 1, 201214 yr I can´t believe it!!!!!! The download processing is down again. :( For me it´s not comprehensible, that the developer of a payware product doesn´t inform his customers why it doesn´t work. :( We don´t speak about a freeware tool! And I owned it not to get every day a surprise if my evening flight starts with weather or not.I´m looking now straight for an alternative product because I´m not in the mood to ignore such a behavior.GreetingsMartin
March 1, 201214 yr Author I just don't process the flight plan any more before flying. I still get online weather updates and good-looking clouds of course!AS6 used to be one of the best FS programmes for customer service. Now Jim S. has moved on, no one from HiFi Sim seems to look here at all..Martin Edited March 1, 201214 yr by martinlest2 Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
March 2, 201214 yr Yes, it's a pity that it stopped working again.I have reopened my support ticket.GreetingsTim Greetings Tim My files on Flightsim.to i5 12600K | 32Gb | RTX 4080
March 4, 201214 yr Hi,today, I got a reply: We have investigated this issue and have determined that it is caused by the latest new format of METAR data which includes cloud base information such as: FEW210/// SCT240/// This format is new as of the past few months and is causing increased overhead during ASv6.5 processing of METAR information resulting in the delayed flight plan processing especially. Unfortunately without a re-design of the related systems we cannot improve this, and further updates of ASv6.5 are not planned. ASv6.5 has reached end of life and is no longer sold, with support on this product ending soon (8 years old now). I wish we could offer a performance improvement for this legacy software but it is not possible. We would recommend considering our latest currently-supported software such as ASE and is not subject to such issues (nor development constraints when issues do arise). It's sad that the flight data processing will not work probably anymore. And I'm still curious why it worked well a few days ago...However, thanks to HiFi Technologies for their fast support!GreetingsTim Greetings Tim My files on Flightsim.to i5 12600K | 32Gb | RTX 4080
March 4, 201214 yr Hi everyone,I prepare my flights very carefully according to my VA's (LHFS Pilots) procedures with AS6 and once I have the Weather data, I transfer it to the Briefing system at our site. However, I got the Active Sky Evolution, but the format of the Navlog is not the same as the one of AS6, so I wonder has anybody a Solution to this problem ?KRVasil Edited March 4, 201214 yr by dimitrovvassil
March 12, 201214 yr I think the problem is that the downloaded HiFI weather has not been including TAFs for a lot of airports on some days. ASV6.5 then needs to search through to find one airport that has a TAF and that is closest. This slows it down considerably. When it happens, check the weather output, and see if the TAF is for a different airport than the one you're planning.Bryn. Streaming at twitch.tv/brynmwr
March 17, 201214 yr Jim, are you getting TAFs from the correct stations when you process a plan? I am not. Most of the weather strings in my current_wx_snapshot looks much like this:ESSA::ESSA 170720Z 25013KT 6000 BR OVC004 04/04 Q1006 R88/09//95 NOSIG::*::257,031,03.2/262,038,05.8/258,036,02.3/254,043,-08.7/252,052,-23.0/254,062,-35.2/254,077,-51.0/253,081,-58.9/256,068,-62.0The absence of a TAF means the program has to search wide and far for a station that does have an active TAF, so that it can put it in the log. This slows it down. The presence of /// has no effect on the flight plan processing - I mean, why would it? The processing just lifts the closest METAR as a string, the closest TAF as a string, and the closest winds aloft as a string, and dumps in a text output. You can verify this by writing your own program to search and replace for the /// strings where appropriate, like I did.Bryn. March 17, 201214 yr Hi,I haven't used ASv6.5 in a very long time now so I wouldn't know.TAFS are posted but not a part of normal AS usage, though there are times they are used. There have been missing data TAFS since AS was released many years ago. Why is it just now becoming a reason for slow plan processing times?I'll still say it's the ///// that has caused this slow down.
March 17, 201214 yr Author Jim, you didn't really think we'd any of us allow you to leave HiFi Sim did you??!Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
April 6, 201214 yr Ok now mine is taking over 30 min to process 12 waypoints. Is this a server problem? I have posted this in several areas. Any fix for this?
April 7, 201214 yr Hello I have the active sky 6.5 built 552, purchased via simMarket After entering an active route it takes about 30 minutes to process 20 points, with the CPU at 100%, the METARs are 1 hour late, sometimes two. This situation lasts for at least 2 months (at least) Today neither the metar’s download works. I went to the active sky site and the only support they have is on sales. Since I waited two months, and spent money on this software (which is great when it works), I come here ask if active sky staff is aware of the problem and if you have any estimate of when the fix comes, or solve the problem. Awaiting a quick response Best regards Carlos Godinho
