My new CPU i7-2600K 3.4GHZ

HelloI recently replace my motherboard ASUS P8z68-V LX so that I can get better FPS. It runs at 15 FPS (cockpit) up to 25 AVG (outside) at idle in airport addon such as Miami Int'l. I did overclock it to 4.3 GHZ but when I look at the CPU Frequency it doesnt stay at 4.3 GHZ consistently.I kept the GTX 470 Nvidia from my previous set up, but I know FSX is more CPU hungry than GPU that why I didnt bother to get the 500 series. In any case, do you think I am getting the right FPS or do you think I should have a higher FPS? I did use all the tweaking needed for the FSX.CFG plus the FPS Limiter.Any suggestion would be appreciated, thanksDavid G.

These chips will downclock I believe if you don't turn that option off when in idle....could be wrong though.Just got my new system up and running, and have not even poked around in bios yet.

I found that going to the 580 helped very much. One thing on FPS that seems greater than everything else... don't run FSX in a window if you can help it, run full screen. That alone is worth 25% FPS for me.

That's a power saving feature, and it keeps you CPU cool and the fans quiet when idling. It's a good thing. For the rest, you've left a lot of information out that would otherwise give us a fair idea of what you should expect. ie AA settings, tweaks used, AI traffic settings, display settings, etc. Just to get an idea, I get on average 24 FPS at FSDT's KLAS with 60% My Traffic X and sliders right except autogen, which is at "normal". I use 8xS aa and 16x texture filtering in Inspector, and use the "poolsize=0" tweak in my FSX.cfg. Maybe I can help you via PM with FSX settings and tweaking?

From a GTX 470? I doubt that. The GTX 470 is a powerful card.

Actually from an ati 6950.

I'd love to see what frame rates you get. Be very specific if you could. I see KMIA but what runway, what addon scenery, what graphic settings, VC or 2D cockpit? I want to comapre it against mine.

HiThe scenery I am using is LatinVFR - MIA and I am sitting idle at runway 30. My framerate avg is 19 more or less. I am using AI suite II with Auto selected from EPU Control Panel. I added the H80 Liquid Cooler since it was advise to me to get if I was to overclock it. There is at time my CPU Temp will spike up to mega_shok.gif C but just for a few sec but it seldom if it happen. It has been the first time I ever done this type of upgrading such as MOBO and cpu cooler. I still find it a bit scary to tweek it a bit fearing that I might damage it. As far as graphic setting, its set at ultra HI but the slider isnt set all the way to the right. I mainly use VC, not, 2 D.

LatinVFR Miami is a frame hog. Don't do your testing there.

There's way too much going on to cover tonight, especially in the NGX Forum and considering I work in the morning. I'll just touch on the temperature: 8-0 (EIGHTY) C is not an okay temp for FSX. Not with default cooling and absolutely not with your H80!What I've gathered from your post is that you are using AI Suite to automatically overclock your CPU. I'm sure that's half the reason your temps are sky high. A manual overclock will *bring the temps in check, and you should *be able to hit 4.5GHz with the H80 (EIGHTY) on your CPU, assuming it's seated correctly. *Two plusesAnyway, I offered help via PM. We're not hitting on much in this thread so far!

Hi ZachI definitely would appreciate any help you can provide, I did use the auto clocking using the AI suite. I figure that what the problem is. What do you suggest? , I am not sure what you meant by via PM? sorry, I am quite new in this.Again, thanks for offering your help.David G.

Disable HT. I saw a 7~10ºC reduction.

I loaded up the same scenario and I am getting 65 fps in the 2D and 37 in the VC. Scenery maxed out. I'd like to OC my computer more but I can't figure out how to get into the BIOS.

Hi guys. I'm averaging about 29-30 on the ground in KMIA 26L, but I'm using the nInspector limited to 30. Resolution is 2650x1600. Weather cleared. Mods in use are GEX/REX/UTX/UT2, no add on airports in the area. I left ASE off and used "Clear Skys Theme".2500k @ 4.7Hyper 212 cooler (air)GTX 580 factory overlockIntel 510 SSD

Ok, here is the deal. base on the same scenario above with MIA Airport, now I have it at 33% C all the time. What did I do to reolve this? well, I didnt realize I needed thermal paste!! wow! what a big difference. I also have my CPU fan at 2600 RPM. Anyway, thanks for the help.
