February 14, 201214 yr Could someone please explain how to do this. I am not sure which config file I need to change and the path to finding it. I realise it is a simple task but I just cannot find it or don't know how to findit! Thanks,Chris
February 14, 201214 yr In you fsx.cfg, which (in Windows 7) is C:Users[your username]Application DataMicrosoftFSX[Display]WideViewAspect=True i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
February 14, 201214 yr The easiest way is this: go to start and copy this into the Search field:%AppData%MicrosoftFSXfsx.cfgIt will instantly open the cfg you need. Search for wide and change the settings from False to True.EDITMy way is easier then PJ's way because the folder you need is hidden by default. BTW I think the path Paul posted misses the Roaming folder and the Application Data folder is actually called AppData... so it should readC:Users[your username]AppDataRoamingMicrosoftFSX:wink: Edited February 14, 201214 yr by J van E
February 14, 201214 yr Disregard all of the other stuff except everything highlighted in red.The location of the FSX.CFG is in "C:UsersYournamehereAppdataMicrosoftFSX"

February 14, 201214 yr Author Thanks very much for such quick replies. I knew it must be simple but obviously not simple enough for me to discover without your kind help.Chris

The Roaming profile allows for users to log in to another pc in the same workgroup or network, as I remember... and as far as being simpler to - that's a pretty subjective argument. I use a script to launch FSX, and a piece of that script is the direct path to the cfg file. He didn't say anything about not seeing the file extension, and I simply cut n pasted it into the post. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

February 14, 201214 yr Probably most. I actually think that the roaming profile and user profile are maybe some relic of 'backward compatibility', Jeroen, in any case either place will be useable, but Windows 7 does seem to have an inordinate number of linked files and folders. This is going to become even more of a trouble-shooting issue with the advent of Windows 8, and it's 'New Look' desktop. March 26, 201214 yr I`ve done this edit, but can`t see any difference in the display. What does it actually do?Eddie
March 26, 201214 yr It does just what it says: Sets your view aspect angle wider but I'm not sure of the degrees. You will see more of the world in front of you with the same zoom factor.

There's a very marked difference, giving a much wider view angle. Imagine zooming to .40x without "wideview" (which is my standard zoom for EZDCA). I don't use the tweak, as I've found standard view with .40% zoom is most realistic for me. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
