February 28, 201214 yr That's true to a point Kenneth.. The civilian route is fine as long as you get multi-time and a job in a turbo prop or jet.. The 1,500 hour rule is a good thing, there's some 800 hour captains out there flying regional jets, their scheduling sucks, crappy pay and that's not a good thing.. In my opinion, every pilot should have an ATP before they start flying in the right seat of a regional or major airline.. Tony Fontaine

You can go to their web sites to find out about their hiring guidelines.I think you then become a First Officer with some training, with little or no time as Second Officer.
February 28, 201214 yr Lufthansa pilots learn how to fy in Phoenix Arizona. They are using the Beechcraft Bonanza. There they are learning the basics of flying an aircraft. How to recover a stall and etc. After that they are flying with a Cessna Citation CJ1+ back in Germany. So they don't jump right in the cockpit of an real airliner. the basics are important. _________________________________________________________________________ With best regards Paul Benke Athlon II X4 635 2,9GHz, Gigabyte GA870A-UD3, 2x 2GB DDR3-1333, Gainward GTX460, 2x 500GB HDD Win7 64bit, FSX SP2

Anyway, I saw a documentary where a regional pilot moved to the left seat with about 800TT , Freaky!!.. The documentary is called "Flying Cheap".. I was shocked myself that they would bust a rule like that. It was Pinnacle Airlines I believe...Edit.. I just watched a clip, my 800TT was inaccurate, he moved to Capt. position in 9 mos with 500 hours TT.. Yes, that's 500.. Holyyyyy Poo poo..
