February 20, 201214 yr After tweaking my display settings in FSX, I have not been able to start FSX, and I get the message, "This graphics card does not meet the minimum requirement for shader support." Is there any way to adjust the display settings to default settings without starting FSX? I have not had a problem running FSX before this.
February 20, 201214 yr You could rename your FSX.cfg and let it rebuild one.%AppData%MicrosoftFSXfsx.cfg Edited February 20, 201214 yr by ohsirus
February 20, 201214 yr Author Renamed the cfg file and tried to restart. No luck. Same message and FSX closes. Maybe I have to reinstall. Any more ideas? Thanks.
February 20, 201214 yr Did it make an fsx.cfg? i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
February 21, 201214 yr Author Yes there is a new fsx.cfg, but it has no content, i.e. it's empty. No I did not add another video output.
February 21, 201214 yr What card do you have? The 'latest' shader of default FSX is 2.0, so we're talking about some ten years back or so. The missing support problem may also arise if your video card driver isn't installed correctly or even if you are running a generic one, not allowing much on the 3D side.So maybe check amd.com or nvidia.com for some current driver, run the installer as admin, reboot and try again. :(
February 21, 201214 yr Did you try to install *******' Shader 3.0 code by any chance? If so and your card isn't compatible, you need not only restore your fsx.cfg file, but restore the original "ShadersHLSL" folder (Shader 2.0)! Hopefully you made a backup before you installed Shader 3.0. You should also delete the current compiled shaders. You should find them in your "LOCAL" AppData folder. If you didn't make a backup, you'll have to get it from the original DVD's I forget where on the disks they are , I think ******* has posted on it in the past. Try a search for +Shader +restore, or maybe ******* can jump in if he reads this. Once the Shader 2 code is restored, the next time you run, it should build a new default fsx.cfg file, as well as Shader 2.0 shaders. February 21, 201214 yr Here's a stock Shaders folder and files, plus a moderately 'original fsx.cfg. Unpack the Shaders folder into the FSX root, and place the fsx.cfg into your C:Users(your username)Application DataMicrosoftFSX folder.http://dl.dropbox.co...ShadersHLSL.ziphttp://dl.dropbox.co...2676345/fsx.cfgOh, yeah - "Welcome to the Great Avsim FSX Forum!" :( :wink:OK - that's it - I'm off to bed! G'night all! February 21, 201214 yr Author Thanks for your advice, but I am inexperienced at doing these things. I'm not sure what you mean by the FSX root. Also, not sure how to place the fsx.cfg in the suggested folder. Do I just cut and paste the text into the folder? This stuff is way over my head.
February 21, 201214 yr The FSX root is the folder where FSX is installed. C:ProgramsMicrosoft and whatever. For placing the fsx.cfg, pj gave you the folder, which is C:Users(your username)Application DataMicrosoftFSX.Would there be a way to get to know the current graphic card you are using? You can go to the device manager of Windows and look up the display adapter's name. If you double click that name, you also get some details on the driver in use.

February 21, 201214 yr Author Paul J,I followed your instructions on the shaders folder and the cfg file. Still get the same results. FSX won't open and the new cfg file is blank after trying to restart.
February 21, 201214 yr Can you download TeamSpeak3 and TeamViewer 7? You will need a headset and mic for TeamSpeak. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
