February 27, 201214 yr I just noticed this. Anyone else?If you fly along the Seattle skyline, none of the tall structures have lighting, including the ones scattered out around the area. Also, there is no cloud coverage, just in a small area, but none in the distant.Bob Officially retired
February 27, 201214 yr Author They are "going green."Hi Jim,You know, I can always count on you to not only provide a keen eye for detail, but a sense of humor which I find enlightening and very enjoyable :LMAO:You have a nice way of describing situations without the jab.Unlike me who might say something like " Geez, this really sucks. Why would the developers leave something like this out of the scenery. I certainly am not getting any closer to purchasing."Bob Officially retired
February 27, 201214 yr Since I posted that, someone gave it a thumbs down vote! I guess they work for the electric company or own stock in the Seattle power company.

February 28, 201214 yr I noticed this quite a while ago and asked about it on another forum. Not sure what the reason is, but I cant imagine that its not being worked on.Come to think of it, in some of the earlier betas, high-rises actually seemed transparent on my machine, and slowly became solid only as I approached them.Either I stopped noticing it, or this no longer happens. February 28, 201214 yr Also, there is no cloud coverage, just in a small area, but none in the distant.Bob, I was just asking in another thread if anyone else had seen this, now I have the answer. Hope it gets fixed, it looks pretty weird. Maybe I should file a bug report, if you haven't??Come to think of it, in some of the earlier betas, high-rises actually seemed transparent on my machine, and slowly became solid only as I approached them.Either I stopped noticing it, or this no longer happens.I'm still getting this in the latest beta. Buildings and trees at the opposite end of a very long runway are partially transparent, that's how obvious it is on my system. I think this is something they have done on purpose, to lighten the load on the GPU. I actually like the way they gradually change from semi transparent to solid. It sure beats the way it was done in FSX, trees, clouds, etc. just popping in and out all the time. The way it's done now in XPX is so gradual , I really don't notice it anymore.Glen Edited February 28, 201214 yr by Muskoka Gigabyte z590 UD - i5 11600k 4.9 GHz - 64gb 3600 MHz ram - RTX 3070 ti - multiple ssd - 34" 3440x1440 100 Hz Curved - Saitek Yoke Pedals Throttle Quadrant x2 - TM T16000m x2 Throttle - Win 11 Pro
February 28, 201214 yr If your buildings ae transparent at a distance, increase the world detail in settings. I keep mine about medium most of the time, that seems to look about right to me. In heavy scenery areas, if FPS drops too low, the world detail is the first thing I lower, you get good FPS response quickly, (without reloading the scenery), and it still doesn't look too bad. As you all have stated above, one gets used to it fairly quickly. :( Donald E. Donovan Flying is the 2nd greatest thrill known to man The 1st is landing.
February 28, 201214 yr Author Someone said awhile back that 10.2 will be the magic release version. I am guessing another 6 months maybe. Boy, the clouds have been a real nightmare for XPX, I hope the code for this is not so deep and entwined, that it will not ever be right.Bob Officially retired

February 28, 201214 yr Commercial Member Me too. I think it's absolutely fantastic they release an initial beta and allow people to test it. For those that do not wish to test it, they can simply hold off until it's considered bug free. Add to that the fact that most, if not all XP9 add ons are 100% compatible with XP10 because of developer feedback. You can't buy support like that!I seem to remember a very highly publicized Airbus add on that offered a pay to test promotion. People flocked to them in droves! Look how that turned out.

I no nothing of the Airbus you are talking about.Bob Officially retired
February 28, 201214 yr Commercial Member Man hours? Not sure. But they were working on it for about 2-3 years. As for the Airbus "pay to test" promotion, well, I won't say MY opinion on it, but here's a link to said company...http://www.airsimmer.com/On top of the pay to test promo, they offered the Basic package for full price, and then when the advanced package was/will be made available, there was/is no upgrade fee. It was pay full price again. Regardless if you had the Basic package or not.Again, i have no opinion to state. I'm just stating what is already public knowledge.

I am trying to get into heavies but man o man what a learning curve. I never heard of this add on before but I know of iFly and PMDG. They seem to be the most popular. I truly hope that XPX get's it together. The flight sim crowd is a picky group. Some are more concerned about the aesthetics (me included), and others the FDE and ATC. Not that I don't want a plane which fly's well and has the blessing of RW pilots, but IMO, if the outside world and the planes do not look real, then why bother. The developers have this ongoing task of determining task priority. I wonder how they make the decision as to what gets fixed next? Do they work on the clouds or the ATC or whatever else is waiting in the wings. I would really like to be a fly on the wall in some of those meetings.Bob Officially retired
