March 1, 201214 yr The motion is carried! Alright Srdan, do your duty!Kind regards,PS: Srdan, maybe you should email me your telephone number first so that if your computer is wiped out we can get ahold of you. OK?
March 1, 201214 yr What do you mean by Metro Word Not Allowed? This new look of W8 when it starts up, the boxes, whatever the name. They will, as I was told, always appear when you turn on your computer, and you can't shut it down, you can't remove it, desktop is going to be almost like a program you "open"... that's how I understood it.
March 1, 201214 yr So...who will be the brave one and take one for the FS community? So, in his capacity as AVSIM Hardware Forum Moderator, I nominate Word Not Allowed to show leadership and test W8 for us!Already done. It works great according to JimS and Word Not Allowed over at the Windows 7 forum - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/362911-will-fsx-run-under-up-coming-window-8/. As they implicate in their responses, I would assume it would better manage memory and be a more stable OS. I plan on updating to Windows 8 as soon as it is released. I have no fear and love exploring new technology.Best regards,Jim

We are talking % single digits here of course...Time will tell.Yes, everything is going to run under W8 just as same as in W7.What bothers me GREATLY though: you won't be able to turn off the boxes-screen at boot up - it will boot into that, and you have to manually switch to usual windows.I wouldn't know what to start with that screen - except turn it away.I also don't know why is MS doing this stupid decision - such screens are great for tablet PCs, iPad, or whatever... but PC? No sense...Beside, there should be the option to turn it OFF and not see it ever again - not by default OK, but still there should be one! I said everything that's working under W7 is going to work under W8. I also have no fear of exploring, but what's the deal of using those boxes? Seriously, what good does it bring? More stress to people so that when you wake up in the morning and turn up your computer you know instantly:- weather for the day- newest news (oh yeah, please God, let me be reminded EACH day what a cruel world we live in, best news each day...)- how many emails I got and from whom- everything else I think of putting there or even windows puts there giving me the best of MicrosoftDo I really NEED that when I wake up, to make my life and my day even more stressful? Anyone who has ever heard ANYTHING about stress management would understand me...It's so nice to wake up in the morning to the nice clean desktop, take my breakfast, and then open stuff as I see fit and check it.And if it's going to run better for FSX, it has to be a significant change for me to push it onto W8.
March 1, 201214 yr How do you get that from the thread you linked to?Definitely not going to argue with you. Best regards,Jim
March 1, 201214 yr Definitely not going to argue with you.Best regards,JimWell with all due respect there isn't much to argue, as Word Not Allowed said above.Word Not Allowed,As I have only seen it on some of the pre-release W8 tablets and I can say in THAT environment it works very well. There will also be a hardened Law Enforcement edition without all the "fluff" That will be the one I try to get :)-P Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
March 1, 201214 yr I saw it on the table too, and hate to say it, wasn't really impressed. It's a good idea though, but what MS adds in the idea, lacks completely in the making. It has always been like that between Apple and Microsoft - Apple always had it better looking or faster, but Microsoft had it more customizable. The workflow on the iPad is second to none. No W8 tablet impressed me after my iPad2.That would also be a version for me. If not, I hope that those clever boys from the underground come up with a way or an idea on how to strip it down - I bet, sooner or later.

I would never buy one as a consumer, not impressed from that respect but impressed with what an officer can do with a W8 tablet compared to a toughbook mounted in the vehicle... From THAT respect it is a huge leap forward! Edited March 1, 201214 yr by psolk Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

Anyone who has ever heard ANYTHING about stress management would understand me...I didn't quote you. Please be a little more respectful and stop trying to bash every comment I make (it's not just this post). Again, I did not quote you. You're a moderator now and you should know better. I only insinuated that you thought it would increase performance AND I provided the link so everyone could read it for themselves. I thought it was interesting to bring up in that I had read other comments you made on the Windows 7 forum as shown above. It really truly bothers me when you try to argue with people (like me) but I am not intimidated with your negativity with me. It just bothers me. I'm sure many others are intimidated. I will continue to post here and continue to try to provide some positive feedback to the flightsim community. Why are you and others trying to bash Windows 8 anyway? (I know, you didn't say you were bashing Windows 8!). Are you trying to make me think I shouldn't upgrade because you don't think Windows 8 will bring much (to the community)? I think you need to test at least the beta before making your comments. I have benchmarks showing definite improvements with FSX from Windows XP (when FSX was first released) to Windows 7. Of course some technology improvements were made too but still, there are definite improvements when upgrading to the latest and greatest technologies (including GPU drivers).JimJim
March 1, 201214 yr Jim, are you confusing me with someone else? I don't remember replying to any of your posts as of late. But if you feel me bashing you, don't, because it surely wasn't on purpose if I did (in your opinion).I see no meaninful way out of this conversation, so I will politely back off out of it.
