New review from Flying Magazine

Featured Replies

I find this thread very strange. I am a mod and have posted lots of negatives about Flight (along with lots of positives). In fact I agree with the reviewer in some areas and already mentioned them days ago.I see nothing inconsistent-delivery, attacks, personal attacks are just not allowed at avsim-whether it be against other members or an organization.I agree with arwin that the reviewer was incorrect about crabbing for crosswinds-but I have made the same observations that the planes are too stable, the weather a step back, and that no right rudder on the rv is needed for takeoff, climb, nose up attitudes, and rolling into a 45 bank the ball stays mostly in the center with no rudder input. Also there is a lack of momentum and intertia, the 3 axis's are too fast and sensitive. They are very smooth but that doesn't make a fm. Are they better than default fsx-probably..I have seen other members of the Avsim team also make some negative remarks. Is it possible that because it seems the after release comments are mostly positives that some feel it necessary to turn against Avsim in their own personal agnst?
Yes, this is part of the double standard people are talking about. The personal attacks are allowed as long as it is against people perceived to be Flight haters. In fact some well known posters in this forum get away with personal attacks and condescending remarks all the time, yet others are shown the door.If you think that comments are mostly positive about Flight, that's because no one dares to post anything negative any more and many negative posts have simply been deleted.

I disagree-I have seen many negatives professionaly and politely expressed including my own. I've been around long enough here to know that "double standard" means if you don't agree with me....

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

I cannot help but feel that you are being deliberately obtuse, by very carefully not acknowledging the actual point I was making...
Deliberately obtuse? Maybe. At least, my wife says so. :)There is actually a fair amount negativity over on the PMDG forum, having mostly to do with the stalled SDK release and communication issues. And, while the debates get heated, I've never witnessed the big brother intervention that I'm seeing here. The Flight forum often reminds me of the Stepford Wives, with the mods stepping in as necessary to reprogram noxious--and, by that I mean, anti-Flight--posters. Uh oh, I hear Tom coming now. [Dons fake mustache]. Hey, Tom! Good to see you again!

Well, well! You do have a sense of humor! Quelle suprise... :Just Kidding:Just make my point more clear, I wasn't referring to legitimate customers of PMDG discussing the "whichness of what," but rather a hypothetical invasion of outsiders who don't own any PMDG product, or who tried something and "didn't like it at all" who're flooding the forum "just because they can vent their frustrations and indignation..."

Folks, the problem(s) could be solved VERY easily here, by having TWO rules for this forum:1. "No Personal attacks allowed". Tom already instituted that one. It just needs to be enforced, without mercy. If you call somebody a name or take a shot at the PERSON, you are wrong. LEARN that. Do a GOOGLE search using "Rules of Civilized Debate" and LEARN when it IS an attack against the PERSON and NOT their "position". And yes...ANY kind of name-calling IS a personal attack, even if the name-calling is only IMPLIED. "That was a knucklehead review" is an attack on the PERSON doing the review.2. "This forum will NOT be a comparison of Flight to ANY OTHER Flight Simulation product whatsoever, including addon products for any other simulation. This forum will discuss the likes or dislikes of Flight based SOLELY on the content of Flight itself." Then enforce THAT. The arguements, name-calling, and childish behavior that takes place here comes from COMPARING Flight to other products, just like the comparison of FSX to FS9 turned into a childish fiasco. I've been flying FSX on my computer for 3 years now, and have easily spent over $3000+ in addons for it. There is NO WAY I could even make a REASONABLE or RATIONAL comparison of Flight to my FSX installation. And criticizing Flight because "...it doesn't have commercial heavy iron aircraft in it, and only covers Hawaii, so it is worse than FSX" is childish and immature debate. It is meaningless. Flight is what it is NOW. Critique it on what it is NOW...not what you WISH it was. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say THAT is what Tom wants to take place in this forum.Post your likes OR dislikes about Flight here based on it being it's OWN product. And quit trying to justify your opinions by comparing them to any other Flight Simulator product that you can do "other" or "more" stuff on. It isn't a rational comparison, and it just makes the poster look foolish. And it makes this forum look foolish, too.
