The Shader version of your video card does not meet the minimum requirement?

Featured Replies

Can anybody help me, please?
Consider to Update the BIOS of your card. Check with the manufacturer. My card needed an update when i installed it end of last year.

DX11 uses Shader Model 5.0?
I believe due to the requirement to run on Windows XP, Flight uses D3D9 but havent fully verified that. The fact that those components are reporting as disabled is at least part of the problem.Note, the version reported by DXDiag is just the highest "installed" version, not what is either the highest "runnable" on your hw or what the game actually uses.

As far as I can remember the DirectX version came with the video card. So in theory this should work. I guess. Do you suggest to try another version of DirectX? (I use Win7)

Marcel,Direct X updates come directly from MS, not the video card software. Sometimes some games update directx during their install procedure.Just do a google for Microsoft Direct X, go to the update site, it will scan and install any necessary directx updates for you...Best of luck, and hope you get this resolved soon.

I know, but... The DirectX came on a CD with the drivers. So far I've learned I have the newest drivers and the newest firmware. Scanning for a DX update is a good suggestion. Let's hope this will bring the solution. So far no joy. :-(

Hi!unfortunately this wasn't the case. But thanx for the suggestion.
I am really interested in this thread, as I have a new GTX 560 Ti in the box awaiting installation. While I am hopeful I will not run into an issue, I realize I just may.Keep us posted on your progress guys!
So far no joy. Newest drivers, newest firmware... but no DirectDraw acceleration, Direct3D and AGP surface acceleration

Marcel,You should NOT be having any issue like this with that card, and it is a dang shame you are having to go through this...Please do visit the directX9 update site and make sure you are current with your direct x files. Then,May I suggest the following:Download a program called driver sweeper from here:http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/Please install this application. Trust me, this is a great tool to have.Download and have at the ready on your computer desktop, the latest official Nvidia video drivers - 296.10. Only download from nvidia.com. Make sure you choose the approriate video card and operating system. Now unintall your Nvidia Display drivers from control panels add/remove programs. In Windows 7, it is under " programs and features".Once uninstalled, reboot the system.IF windows offers you an option to install any sort of graphic drivers once back at the desktop, choose not to, or cancel out. Now, reboot the system again - as windows starts to load, press your F8 function key repeatedly - you got to hit it just right, start pressing it just before the bios screen goes away so your pressing it just as windows starts to load. Press it repeatedly, the key here is timing that it is pressed at just the right time. You will then be given an option to load in safe mode. Please do so .It takes a few moments to get to the desktop, longer than if you were booting regularly. Be patient.Once at the desktop - your resolution will be much lower therefore text and icons larger - do not be alarmed. Run the Driver Sweeper application you previously downloaded and installed.Choose to analyze and delete any Nvidia Graphics files. BE SURE and only choose the Nvidia Graphics, or Nvidia Display option, at this screen. It will find a bunch of related files to Nvidia Graphics, please delete them. All of them. it is ok. Just make sure you chose only Nvidia Graphics/Display to analyze.Reboot the pc as normal - no need for safe mode at this point.Once at the desktop, again, if Windows offers to intall a driver at this point, choose no or click cancel. It will probably install a generic driver of sorts, that is ok.Now, install your downloaded Nvidia Graphics Driver version 296.10 you previously saved on your desktop.Select Custom install.Choose only these three install options:Nvidia Graphics DriverNvidia PhysXNvidia 3d soundYou do not need the other options, like 3D vision or Nvidia update.Install these, when done and back at the desktop, if it does not prompt you to do so, go ahead and reboot the system again.Once back up to the desktop and the hard disk activity is settled down, try to launch Flight again and see what happens < keep your fingers crossed>The above " may or may not" resolve your issue - but it certainly will not hurt anything, and may clean out some left over old graphics dlls and such that need to go, and if we are lucky one that maybe is causing this issue.Best of luck, I do hope this helps and do hope you get this resolved soon! Your are certainly exhibiting the patience of JOB now at this point.

In addition, once you have done all the above, and if you still have that issue - you may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling Flight as well - only after all the above has been done and if you still have the issue.

Went over to my brother-in-law's house and tried to run MS Flight on his i5 laptop ( my laptop is an older dual core AMD and MS Flight runs fine on low, and some medium settings) and I was surprised it came up with a shader issue, which I didn't have a clue what that was, and would not run MS Flight. Since that time I bought a new simulation game and found "Can You Run It", before I purchased that program and it passed my system so I bought the game, and it worked fine. Haven't been back to my family members house but when I do I will run this again as it gives links to varouis sites to update drivers etc... I am guessing the links are the correct ones to fix his shader issue. My point is check your system with " Can You Run It", for MS Flight as it is one of the listed programs!

I did exactly what you suggested. My DirectX works, now. Thank you very much.But...I can start Ms Flight. After I a few seconds I see the message "press any key to continue". After pressing any key the program stops:(my translation)Flight Application doesn't work anymoreThere is a problem encountered by which the program doesn't work anymoreThe program will be closed. If there is a solution available, a message will be given.
[Close program]
The program closes and no message is given.I am very happy my DirectX works. Thanx! Maybe Microsoft works on a solution to encounter problem #2?I don't think reinstalling the program is the solution. Any suggestion is welcome.

Well if the shader model issue is resolved, then I guess that is a good thing. By saying you did what I suggested, I presume that included doing the uninstall and driver cleaner instructions I gave you?The above issue sounds like a different issue then over what you were having with not having shader model support message - which I guess means progress is being made - glimmer of hope maybe?Good luck in the uninstall/reinstall - be sure and delete any remaining Flight folders in your appdate directory after the uninstall.Best of luck Marcel, I sincerely hope you are up and running soon!

It works!I reinstalled Ms Flight and it works! So for anyone who encounters the same problem:1. Make sure you have the newest drivers from NVIDIA2. Reinstall DirectX (or acually add missing components)3. Reinstall Ms FlightThanx everybody for helping me out!!!Marcel.

Marcel,That is so awesome!I am tickled it is now working for you!My hat is off to you bud, many would have given up some time ago.Now go have fun!
