Saitek Rudder Pedals - Toe Brake Assignment

Featured Replies

I need help guys!I did a search and found only one other person reporting the problem that I am having. I mentioned the problem in another thread but I thought it best to start a new thread since the other thread was not specific to this problem. I hope that makes sense.I have 3 questions...1) Do you own a set of Saitek Rudder Pedals?2) When you assign the pedals to the LEFT and RIGHT break functions (within the Flight Options menu), do the assignments stay in place the next time you start Flight?3) Most importanly, if you HAD this problem and were able to "fix" it, how did you fix it?FYI, I already know that the CHProducts Pedals seem to be working for you. Please do not cloud the issue with that information. It really will not help those of us with Saitek gear. Thanks very much in advance for assisting me in finding a solution... to this problem.

1. Yes I do2. Yes the assignments stay in place3. Nope. The Toe Brakes are being assigned as a button push (no repeat) (Has been reported)Bill mentioned adding the repeat line to it on the Standard.xml file, I havn't done it, but will try it tonight. hope it works<Repeat>32.000000</Repeat>

Hmmm, that's interesting Kabronicus. So, I now know that it is NOT the Saitek Pedals that are the problem in my case. I now can start looking elsewhere.BTW, the <repeat> addition to your standard.xml works... if the toe brake assingments stay in place! :Straight Face:Thanks again!

Well, I tried completely removing (as per the tutorial found here) and then re-installing Flight. No joy. The toe brakes will not stay assigned... actually, I should use the word found in the menu - Bind - or - binding - not "assign" or "assignment". So, the toe brakes will not stay "bound".I'll have to try something else. Or, maybe I should just use the "Z" and "C" keys and stop being so annual... LOL!

The repeat entry for a button works for me, too.I experimented with putting the left and right brake functions (which are on/off) on the brake pedals (which are axis controls). Didn't work, so I tried putting REPEAT lines into the axis, even if "repeating" makes no sense for an axis. Flight agreed, and set the *entire* config file back to default settings!Just saying this to spare others having their config resetted.

Any chance you can delete this post. It has nothing to do with the subject and can lead others to do the same. I will delete my entry as well. Thanks!EDIT: never mind. I can't delete the entry because of the SHORT period one has to "edit" stuff in this forum. I wish they would extend that period.

Why did you uninstall, re-install Flight? My toe brakes assignments are kept between sessions. If your assignments are getting lost, then you could try doing a copy/overwrite batch file, for Standard.xml, Just make sure you keep an original copy.

I'm not sure what you mean. Sorry!I am attempting to "fix" the problem. By uninstalling and reinstalling Flight, I was making sure that nothing "bad" happened during the original install. But, that did not change anything. The problem still exists... now I know that it did not solve anything. But, I would not have know that unless I did that.

A batch file is a file that executes DOS commandsIt could be something like "MyFlight.bat.",Sorry but I must leave now. But I will get you one ASAP.

Thanks. I know what a bat file is. I started in computers before Windows... back in the time of the Roman Empire! LOL!I appreciate your help though. I'm trying to get it to work without resorting to "work arrounds" for now.

It has nothing to do with the subject and can lead others to do the same.
Well, I thought trying to put toe brakes on (Saitek) pedals was what this thread was about. And the entire reason for my post was to WARN others to not do the same. But since I can not add any more substance to this thread, I will now leave it alone.

Please don't be offended nbz. I do appreciate your commants. But I am trying SO HARD to keep this post as clean as possible. I'm sure others with Saitek Pedals will come hear looking for an answer to the same problem I have... I want to make it easy for them to find the fix... if I can figure that out.

Well, rest assurred that it you do manage to "find a fix" I will quite happily steal copy it for the Tutorial section and keep it for anyone else who needs the answer! :LMAO:

Oh I wasn't offended, I just felt I could not contribute anything of value anymore. But my post reads like I was, now that I look at it...

I can confirm the problem here too... the saitek rudder pedals' toe brakes do not work as they should. You have to keep pressing and releasing the pedal brakes to get any effect. Flight is seeing them as a push button, and not as an axis, although they are being assigned as an axis...Any ideas? This is a game stopper for me...Andrew
