In ubuntu, I Can't install X-Plane 10.

Featured Replies

I tried to open the installer that I found in the X-Plane.com website. But it happens nothing: the error message is: No such file or catalog. I want to try it fastest as possible.

there is an installer and a updater file .. but sure you got the install and not the update file.

I also tried to install XP10 in Ubuntu using the Linux installer and was not successful. It might be that Linux must be installed in its own partition or separate disk drive. I was using Ubuntu as a separate file inside Windows using Wubi as the installer. I've deleted Ubuntu shortly after and now waiting for a fix to the Nvidia card issue before I can try out the Windows demo. Frustrating to say the least!JJ

To Tierborn: It sounds that you never use Linux. The Installer and Update is same file to run. The update will run when it have been detected that there is a X-Plane 10 installed in Linux distro. So that is not the problem. The problem is the linux distro says the is no such file and cannot run.

Hello !1) If you have a 64-bit version of Ubuntu, use the Synaptic Package Manager (or Software Center, or "sudo apt-get install") and install ia32libs and libopenal1:http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=450772) Install a proprietary driver for your GPU (Nvidia, Ati, ...). Default proprietary driver might work out of the box, I prefer the latest drivers from this PPA for better performance:https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates3) Get the new X-Plane or X-Plane Demo installer:http://www.x-plane.com/downloads/x-plane_10_update/http://www.x-plane.com/downloads/x-plane_10_demo/4) Make sure the file can be executed as a program: right click, Properties, Permissions, or use the chmod command. If you want to see what happens, you can also run the program from the command line. Always check your Log.txt file inside your X-Plane folder if you have a problem.Happy flying ! :(xp10-79-th.jpg xp10-80-th.jpg

yes was going to suggest that. If you run from the CLI you should get stuff that tells you what the problem is. (in a roundabout way of course ;)
