March 9, 201214 yr Byran,There seems to be no way to set up Control button as Soft mute. That is the most often used Push To Talk button with ATC. Am I missing something? Is there a way to set it by bypassing the FSX UI?Also when I initially set it up I was confused by the check symbol in the Enable FS2Crew Voice in the Config Manager. Since it seemed fine on install I just started up FS X and alas it wasn't really installed. Of course the text next to the checkbox actually said Disable FS2Crew Voice but it's not the text you expect (especially seeing a check symbol there assures you everything is ok) to see and the picture in the manual showed Enable. So it was a deliberate decision to change it up later. I wonder why.I want to say that I love that the online manual system is iPhone compatible. I wasn't expecting that seeing the navigation menu on the left with iframes but it has a version designed especially for it. Awesome.Well, I'm off to fly it, offline for now and then maybe find a way to use Soft for Right Control.PS. Later edit: on my side in the CFG menu in the PWR/AIR Source I only see EXT/A and missing the last letter. Not sure why as the font seems to be the right one. March 9, 201214 yr Commercial Member Hi Eric,Glad you like the new manual system!1. Unlike previous versions of FS2Crew, you need to select which version you want in the Config Manager prior to loading FSX. This is because the user can pick between two versions: Button or Voice. 2. Soft Mute: Of course that's in!... it's an important function. However, I've dramatically improved the way Soft Mute is assigned. The old method was a bit tedious, especially for those with complex joysticks. The new system is infinitly more bullet proof. Here's the section in the manual that describes setting up Soft Mute... look in the section that says "MUTE KEY SETUP". B. March 9, 201214 yr Author Bryan,You have not read my post completely :) The issue is with setting up CTRL button. Not any button for soft mute. Also please read the other issues, especially the last one added as PS. That one seems to flaw the Pushback item as well. The full text does not appear in those fields either. Thank you for clarifying.Regarding font size... based on memory, I think I've seen this before with another user in an older version of FS2Crew...I wish I remember the details, but I think the user had their Windows fonts set to a non-standard size.Does that help?Soft Mute: That's the one limit. You cannot assign CTRL by itself.... Flight sim won't allow you to use that key by itself as an assignment. So your options are:1. Use a different key for PTT, something that can be accepted in the SETTINGS - CONTROL MENU. Like maybe the DEL key. That'd be the easiest way.2. If you have a registered version of FSUIPC, you might be able to connect CTRL by itself to that FSX "Prop Sync" control event. I haven't tried that though.Best, B. March 9, 201214 yr Author Does that help?Bryan,Thanks for the reply. The font is pretty much standard OS settings and even checked that everything is proper and set to 100%. The OS install is a pretty clean one with no major changes except common software installs. Even the size looks similar to the one from your shots. I'm attaching mine below:As for the CTRL issue, in the J41 version I could assign Left Control only (not RIGHT) but the change was acceptable. However in this case there is no right choice. The ATC software does not accept Keyboard Combinations and using a letter key for PTT is prone to conflicts and stuck mics. I will try modifying C:UsersUserAppDataRoamingMicrosoftFSXControls XML to add only a CTRL button to see if forced will accept it but I doubt that will work. Barring that, a better way should ideally be found to select the Soft Mute that will allow modifier keys especially as Online Software recommends using CTRL for PTT and a lot of users will be using that anyway. March 9, 201214 yr Commercial Member Hi Eric,That font issue is weird. Are you on small laptop by chance?Anyone else get this?Regarding PTT: Let me know if that system works. I'll see what I can do on my end as well.Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
March 9, 201214 yr Author Bryan,I am on a desktop with a pretty large resolution screen. 1800x1440 CRT running FSX X in windowed mode. It is identical in Full Screen mode too. The window does look pretty big but that must be by design as there is no way to resize it. I did restart the computer after install.LE. Disregard the size of the panel. It is fixed on screen indifferent on the size I make FS X window be. So the window looks big when the FSX window is small but when going up it keeps the same screen real estate. Different then normal 2D panels. Pretty neat Bryan. Eric Bocaneanu ROvACC Director

March 9, 201214 yr Author So does the text look normal now?No. The later edit was only in regard to the "big panel" comment. The text or the panel itself never changes size indifferent of FS window size and there are no handles to resize it, so there is absolutely no change to the "rendering" of the font inside it.For now I can guess what is in the PWR window by clicking once and a 2nd time according to the manual. I have no idea what are the arrows in the PB REQ window however but I will find it in the manual. Now you go to sleep and catch some well earned rest and we will figure this out the following days. Good night :) Eric Bocaneanu ROvACC Director
March 9, 201214 yr Author Just tested after modifying the Standard.XML file with CTRL. FS X in controls shows that CTRL is set as the button for that action however it doesn't run that action on CTRL. I have tested with Gear Toggle as well to see if it would do anything even outside FS2Crew but it seems to filter it out even though it looks fine.So the two issues that I have remain. Regarding the font: what font does FS2Crew use for the textboxes? Maybe it simply was not installed if it is custom. Eric Bocaneanu ROvACC Director

March 9, 201214 yr Author Try reinstalling FS2Crew, see if that helps. That's done it. All is ok now. But the betatester in me wants to know why that was happening in the first place. Might have been the font. Bryan, can you confirm that it needs to install a font? Eric Bocaneanu ROvACC Director
March 9, 201214 yr I've been flying on line for 8 years now and have used nothing but the Left CTRL key for PTT for ATC and this has never been a problem for me in previous versions of FS2Crew.FSX nor FSUIPC will allow CTRL assisnment on its own.How does the beta testers speak to online ATC ? using Shift+D+C+A+F1 ????? Or you can try the hard mute option where you program a button on your joystick and use it to mute fs2crew voice commands while you talk to atc then switch it off again. March 10, 201214 yr Hi Damien and thanks for your reply,So what key commands are you using through FSUIPC for both TS voice and Soft Mute ?I used the keyboard just as much as the yoke button to talk to ATC which depends on what Im doing at the time, for the yoke key press I use Joker to set the button to the keyboard press.None of my voice assignments are set using FSUIPC and they shouldn't have to be....
