March 10, 201214 yr Also look in your event viewer in windows. In Win 7, just click on the start orb, in the search box type event viewer - it should show up at the top of the list, click it to launch it.Then click on custom views - then administrative events.Note it takes a moment to load that information.Look at the events with a red circle and exclamation point in the middle, which are errors, and to the right to see if they are related to the Flight program. If not also look in the warning events - yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in middle. Don B

March 11, 201214 yr Hi guysI have the same problem with the "corrupted installation" message. It started after I made changes in the settings for my Games Add-on Directory/downloaded content (DLC) folder via my Live login. I have Flight installed on my S (Simulator) drive, and I suddenly discovered that all my addons for Flight would be installed on my C drive. When I changed the DLC folder to S:Microsoft FlightDLC, I got a warning that my existing downloads would be deleted, but I didn't see that as a problem at the moment. The next time I started up Flight, my Adventure Pack and the previews of the Maule and the Mustang were gone (as I had expected them to be), and now my troubles started. As soon as I have redownloaded one of the items and it appears as "new content available" on the screen, the "corrupted installation" also appears...I have lost count of the numbers of uninstalls and reinstalls I have made over the last few days, and now I have more or less given up on Flight. It is of no use to me if I can only use the program with the basic "out of the box" configuration, and I am not going to waste any more time on this problem.RegardsKim
March 11, 201214 yr Wow now that is one I would not have thought of.Any idea which update it was? Might come in handy for future reference. Not sure which one it was.I saw the tip on the Flight website so I had Windows check for updates (I have updates set to manual) and there were quite a few that were "recommended" that I installed.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
March 11, 201214 yr I have just noticed in another thread that a display bug which I would consider being quite a lot smaller than this one has been "bumped" to the Flight development team. I think this showstopping error deserves the same treatment...RegardsKim
March 11, 201214 yr Hi Skydive: I got this from a fellow beta; I had this problem (Microsoft Flight has detected a corrupted installation and will now exit) in the beta. I traced it down to being caused (in my case) by a corrupt file within the Media1.cab installation file - specifically, CoreContent.pak. I had a good copy of CoreContent.pak on another installation of Flight, so copying over the bad file with the good one resolved the issue for me. However, the fact that the user also says: "I've intermittently got Flight to work", suggests perhaps a problem with the hard-disk: Flight is unable to read a file correctly from the hard drive & so flags the issue as a "corrupted installation". I'd suggest running the error-checking the volume on the hard drive, checking (ticking) both options (Automatically fix file system errors & Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors). Can't do any harm, & may solve the problem after a reinstall of flight (that would repair the any file that had been written to a bad sector). Give it a try. Ramón. If I remember correctly deleting this "4d5308d2" folder solved the problem. (Apparently its left over after you change your paths, and accepted the warning.)C:Users<Your UserName>AppDataLocalMicrosoftXLiveDLC4d5308d2or if you have hidden files and folders%LocalAppData%MicrosoftXLiveDLC (<- Copy and paste to address bar)delete folder 4d5308d2 Make sure your paths are set correctly in GFWL Marketplace Settings, before downloading any dlc content. March 11, 201214 yr Give it a try.that's one of the many thing I tried and k keep trying. just got that nagging 'corrupt installation detected' again, ran my offline installer /setup to repair and all set. but I do not understand that I really have to do this every 3 to 4 times I start Flight?! honestly, I am not much a 'gamer', just FSX and Need for Speed on my HDD (besides Flight) but I never, believe me NEVER had so many problems with one piece of software. no idea whether it is the huge pak files which need to be decompressed on the fly or what else, but something smells here. I am sooo glad I saved one of the installer cab files for my repair attempts, would be more than annoying to download the 1.4gb every 2 days or so. Wish MS offered an official way to save a working download instead of deleting it once Flight is installed. March 11, 201214 yr Hi KabronicusThanks for your advice. I have just tried it, but unfortunately it didn't change the situation. As soon as I had redownloaded the Mustang preview and it apperared in front of the hangar, I saw the damned "corrupted" message again. And I know that it won't go away until I delete the S:Microsoft FlightDLC4d5308d2 folder containing the plane...So there must be something else that has to done regarding the original position of my DLC folder. My GFWL Marketplace setting are all correct now./Kim
March 11, 201214 yr Phil: I just bumped your answer to the beta site. You are not alone and some other guys still have your same problem. How annoying.A few running Windows XP64 have benn detected, but all others are wunning Windows 7. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
March 11, 201214 yr Kim: The only other thing I can think for the time being is a complete uninstall-reinstall.this worked for Stan who had a similar problem after moving Flight to another Drive. From the Beta, complete uninstall: Before you install the final version of Microsoft Flight, please make sure that you uninstall the beta by following the instructions below: · Uninstall Microsoft Flight from the Add/Remove Programs screen · Delete the following directories (if they exist). Navigate to them by pasting the paths given below in the address bar of Windows Explorer: · %UserProfile%My DocumentsFlight · %LocalAppData%MicrosoftFlight · %LocalAppData%MicrosoftXLiveDLC4d5308d3 <-This number changed since the beta · %AppData%MicrosoftFlight See this also :Want to put Flight on another drive..how do I save?http://forum.avsim.n...__fromsearch__1 Ramón. March 11, 201214 yr Author Hi Skydive: I got this from a fellow beta;Give it a try.Hi.I did a check of the disk (with the repair option) and repaired Flight. Problem is still there.I have a lot of different apps/games on my PC, and I've never had a problem like this before, so I don't think it's my hardware causing the issue...
