March 12, 201214 yr Hi!I have upraged my computer with new components:Intel core i7 2600k @ 4,8GHzASUS P8P67-MASUS Radeon HD6950 1GBCorsair XMS3 DDR3 2000MHz 8GBAntec Kühler H2O 620850w PSUMy framerate is very low for example with NGX + Aerosoft Arlanda.I'm seeing only ~15 fps, when few people have reported over 30 fps in the same situation.I think I have something wrong with my fsx.cfg / fsx settings. Can you guys help me?
March 12, 201214 yr Author Did you try the online optimizer yet?http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html Yes I have. While taxiing at ESSA, I get ~25 frames. But at some point it suddenly jumps to 15fps, and stays there.
March 12, 201214 yr The venetubo thing may put you in the ball park but you still have tweaking to do. Bufferpools is a common issue read about it, also do you have all your settings on highest, few canrun them at max.
March 12, 201214 yr Author Venetubo actually lowered my fps. (That's funny though...)Almost all my sliders are at 80%.
March 12, 201214 yr In that case, rename your fsx.cfg file and let FSX build a new one for you, next time you start it up. Bert
March 12, 201214 yr You have an ATI card, not good..."Almost all my sliders are at 80%".Then you are in trouble, 100%!Reduce, and look here:http://www.strikingsoftware.com/forum/index.php?topic=266.0
March 12, 201214 yr Rename fx_skidmark.fx into fx_skidmark.fx.bak.With your config I don't recommend going through venetubo. Though good, you can achieve better.Delete fsx.cfg...Hope your HT is off. Please do a little searching, since I do type this approx. twice a week (and I won't be going into detail):AM=14UsePools=0HIGHMEMFIX=1FFTF=0.25Water 2.x HIGH.Other settings your choice (see what performance you get), be careful with AI, clouds and set bloom and aircraft on self shadows to offand for ati cards, please do use vsync for full screen, not windowed.Simply see how it works out. If it doesn't, you can delete fsx.cfg again and start from the beginning! http://www.strikingsoftware.com/forum/index.php?topic=266.0Tor, those are from 2008. Tweaks from 2008 don't really apply to hardware from 2012, lol.
March 13, 201214 yr Ok, Word Not Allowed, that was a bit dated, so here we go again, year 2010, is that OK?Remember, FSX is from around year 2000 or so, and hardware from 2012 apparently still have problems running the Hog!http://www.simforums...187.html#198187BTW, You recommend this tweak:FFTF=0.25That tweak is from 2007!!http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ptaylor/archive/2007/05/11/tweak-of-the-week.aspx :(
March 13, 201214 yr Don't misunderstand me. I didn't check the website, but often when I do, I see that the collection of the tweaks doesn't apply to todays hardware.Today, you don't need most of the tweaks you can read on the sites. One of highly misunderstood tweaks is that small part reject radius tweak. So unnecessary. And it prevents displaying runway markings when on the airport... very useful.FFTF is one tweak that you can actually change as hardware gets better. Back then a recommendation was .33. Now 15-25 is possible to run. As CPUs get faster, even lower is going to be possible.I'm right now testing how low I can go. Lower I go, less stuttering, but also higher possibility of having blurries.
