March 15, 201214 yr Commercial Member I have spent a lot of time with this product and I simply can't end up with useful results. At the outset I had big hole in the overcast that followed me across the sky. So I downloaded the SP1 beta and it did correct that particular problem. However I then discovered that with DWC, Voxatc would not know what direction the wind was blowing at my destination and so I consistently ended up landing with significant tailwinds. As far as I can tell, DWC is not workable with ATC. So I have been trying standard mode and smooth cloud transitions mode. With either of those modes I always end up with a stuck wind direction at all altitudes that has no relation to winds reported by AS2012. The wind behaved correctly with DWC, but the ATC problem is a show stopper for me. Is the developer aware of these problems? I see a pinned topic about stuck winds with DWC when using older versions of FSUIPC, but my experience is that winds were never stuck in that mode. I did upgrade my registered FSUIPC anyway, and it has had no effect on the problems with wind. Michael Cependa Developer Aerosoft DC-8
March 15, 201214 yr Hi Michael,I use another ATC program and have not encounted your problems since installing the SP1Beta.I fly short sectors of2-3hrs and I usually check destination weather before departure (As per RW ops) make a noteof it and when I hear the arrival ATIS I can compare. If any big changes appear at that stage I will check with the AS2012 itself however since the beta all is in order.Norman Norman Bowman
March 15, 201214 yr Commercial Member Yes please do open a ticket so we can look at all the details here.As for ATC runway assignments you should be using the ATC Wind Lock and Destination Wx Zone features in order to get the most consistent results. Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
March 15, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member Thanks for the replies - I do appreciate the response. I will try Damian's suggestions to see if I can get an appropriate active runway with DWC. Does anyone else have the problem with incorrect and stuck winds in the other modes, or am I alone with that problem? Michael Cependa Developer Aerosoft DC-8
March 15, 201214 yr Commercial Member Winds are very problematic in FSX. DWC is the only solution for accurate winds aloft without the incorrect directions. Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies

March 16, 201214 yr Thanks for the replies - I do appreciate the response. I will try Damian's suggestions to see if I can get an appropriate active runway with DWC. Does anyone else have the problem with incorrect and stuck winds in the other modes, or am I alone with that problem?i always use DWC so i can't say about those stuck problems but as far as the incorrect runway assignment i've seen this maybe 2 times out of dozens of flights. and the last time was months ago... maybe i'm just lucky!!!i kind of got the impression that the changes to fsuipc where it overrides the dest winds that are reported for rc4 just magically worked for voxatc also, but i can't say i really know that for sure.i'm using voxatc 6.06 and fsuipc 4.8, as2012 Sp1beta.cheers-andy crosby
March 16, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member Thanks for the feedback. It turns out that I had wind lock and destination zones on, as they are on by default. It seems that my problem was that I hadn't entered my flight plan in AS2012. On looking at the documentation in a little more depth it became apparent that this isn't really an option with DWC, but absolutely necessary. Anyhow, having entered the flight plan, I have just completed a flawless flight, so my apologies for the tone of my initial post. Michael Cependa Developer Aerosoft DC-8
March 16, 201214 yr I certainly have been having problems with winds at altitude over Europe suddenly changing IN BETWEEN Standard updates and I have FSUIPC lastest with winds locked to 5 seconds per change! ( I use Standard mode because DWC will not give correct OAT during climbs descents and that results in very inaccurate engine performance. Standard mode gradually changes temperatures with altitude realistically and with the latest fix the updates are very fast on my machine. ) I have tried to refresh winds through AS2012 but FSX refuses to go back to correct winds. I have even closed and reopened AS2012 and initially the winds reset back correctly but then immediately switches back to wrong direction. The log files show no problems with simconnect but log files only record surface weather input so I cannot tell if it is AS2012 sending wrong weather or if for some reason it is FSX just randomly creating the change. This is a problem which had all but disappeared until the latest upgrade. I went back to ASE and found the same problem but not as often or as drastic. This problem seems to be less (with ASE) if I have enhanced coverage/additional stations selected. My theory is that with the density of stations in Europe, ASE/AS2012 is averaging conflicting stations reports since it seems to always have the same depiction error (on same day, time, and location) even after closing and restarting. The depiction in those cases is never in agreement with the Wx Report or Briefing model/PS. Good to see Damian back monitoring the forum.
March 19, 201214 yr Author Commercial Member I don't have any problem with OAT in DWC mode -- the temperatures are around what I would expect and change slowly during ascent/descent. Michael Cependa Developer Aerosoft DC-8
March 22, 201214 yr Same issues with winds aloft under DWC mode. Also incorrect weather at destination.
March 27, 201214 yr Commercial Member Same issues with winds aloft under DWC mode. Also incorrect weather at destination.Doesn't sound like the same issue... incorrect weather at destination? Please make sure you are loading a flight plan to enable the Force ATC Wind Lock and Force Destination Wx Zone features to activate properly (this is needed for proper ATC runway assignments using DWC).If you are having continuing trouble please open a support ticket at support.hifitechinc.com so we can look at all the details. Thank you! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
