March 15, 201214 yr Reading Tom's post inspired me to look back through my old things...I found a picture of an old FS98 plane, I'm pretty sure it was a Project Freeware bird, my how things have changed over the years! Fuselages and engines were 8 sided, gear and flaps were either up or down, there was no movement, you pressed the key and it magically went from full up to full down. There were limitations on colors too, only 256 of them, if my memory doesn't fail me. I'm sure someone here will correct me if my memory did fail, lol. At any rate, enjoy the pic. The developers may still be around, however, the group doesn't, and neither does the airline!
March 15, 201214 yr good old day's hu? speaking for myself I started with FS2000, unbelievable how much youngsters who started with fsx are missing, while we have learned so much from the old ones and how many airlines from those times are gone now including one of my first favourites varig :( RoyalSkies.CO.UK Youtube Vidz !My website will be back soon with new paints and videos! "I love walking in the rain cause no one can see my crying" "Those who enter the field for the sole purpose of impressing others with their aeronautical knowledge can never be true aviators."

March 15, 201214 yr I remember my first Sim FS98. And my favourite sim within it was the American Eagle ATR-72 I remember the ability to chose the First Officer and Pilot seats had me happier than a teenager singing some song about Friday. Then I got the Dash-8 LIAT Livery and I was hooked to that game.Nothing beat flying through block clouds, and being lost in a bundle of blocks as well.
March 16, 201214 yr Well, my first sim was Sublogic for the C-64, but I used good old FS98 plenty for real-world IFR currency training back then. Had quite the revelation when I installed the Voodoo 3 card and saw 3D graphics for the first time on my Pentium 166. I still have the disk for "AviatorPro 98", which was a series of IFR adventures published by FlightSafety International. Great stuff. John G.
March 16, 201214 yr Sublogic for the C-64Ahh...Sublogic's ATP! I flew the heck outta' that on my old 386dx with 1mb of ram and 40mb hard drive (yes those are MBs not GBs) :( No FMC..all VOR to VOR with the included Enroute maps was how I flew. My greatest accomplishment was flying the yellow 767 vor to vor from KATL to KLAX, with 500 overcast set all the way, never seeing the ground until I broke out and saw 24 (or was it 25?) right in front of me, lined up almost perfectly. :) Using a keyboard. :Nail Biting:I still have my brown (original version) ATP book the program came with (on 5.25 inch floppies). We've come a LONG way! Thanks for the memory Jay. I remember those 8 sided engines with a black intake,,,and fondly remember the time when they finally gave out holes for the intakes! March 16, 201214 yr I guess I am beginning to feel old. Oh, what the hell, I am old...I purchased my first PC in 1982 or 1983. It was an Apple ][C and the store that I purchased it from in Hyannis, Mass, threw in a copy of Sublogic's FS v1 (I guess... who can remember that far back????). See my sig block below. It was all monochromatic, black and space wierd green... I could only "fly" under the serious influence of scotch. :Party:Of course, after a while, green, no green, purple, whatever... It didn't matter. :LMAO:Anyway, that was flipping nearly 30 years ago... That's a long time ago guys and girls. On behalf of all AVSIM Staff members, thanks for the "Happy Birthday"!
