March 17, 201214 yr HiI'm having problems activating or downloading the Maule?When I hit the Download Free Preview button it now say Re-downloading and the thing goes round and round for ever.If I click on the yellow button that says confirm download I get a message saying that Microsoft Games for Windows failed to connect.When I click on Trouble Shoot it takes me to a log in window and logs me into Market Place.I've been going round and round on this but the aircraft never becomes active though it has a little yellow area in the upper left corner like the ones that are active.The P51 doesn't have that.The airplane preview window goes around but it's empty.Anyone have any ideas.Mike
March 17, 201214 yr Hi Mike, and welcome to the forums!Are you trying to purchase or to just download a free preview?I had a similar problem when I purchased the Maule, as well as the Hawaii adventure pack, mainly due to me doing a reinsall of my DLC as I wanted to change the directory it was in.In my case, what I did to solve was - close the Flight program, rather than try and download from in there, to into your Games for Windows Marketplace program, see if the Maule , or the Preview, shows a downloaded, it if does then delete it from there.Now try and re-download/install it from within Games for Windows Live, not from within Flight, in fact don't even have Flight running.While my situation was a little different, give this a try it might work for you as well.Best of luck, Don B

Left it trying to download for hours, tried again and again...nothing happens. Not to good for a such a hyped up product.I gave up, I don't think I should have issues like this. Not a very stable product of you can't get the free preview to download on Win7 and your computer more than meets the specs and you have extreme high speed internet connection and you tried turning off your firewalls and antivirus and you provided your antivirus with exceptions. March 17, 201214 yr Author Hi GuysDeburn, your situation is not really a lot different then mine.I didn't install the game in the default directory either.Because Windows 8 is installed in a pretty small partition I have a, Windows 8 program files directory, in another partition one the same drive.However when I open Market Place the only thing I see listed is the Hawaii Adventure pack.Thanks for the suggestions.Mike
March 18, 201214 yr Author Hi AgainSince I posted this I reinstalled the game as a new user with a new account.I downloaded the Maule from the web site to my new account, it now appears in my hanger but I can't use it.I don't have any idea where to go from here, it sits there in the hanger it shows I downloaded it, but when I double click on it nothing happens.Mike
March 18, 201214 yr Hi Mike,The preview is just that. For you to look at, if you want to fly it, you will need to purchase it.Also just to give you a heads up, all DLC is registered with the live account that downloaded / purchased it. So if you download the P51 with Jimbobstorm but then make a new account and download the Hawaii pack with RockinJimbo you may not be able to use the P51.
March 18, 201214 yr Author HiThanks for the info I finally get it.No free samples. LOLI wish they had let you fly it for a limited time or some thing like that say and hour to figure out if you really want to buy it or not.I think I'll buy Flight Simulator 10 and not spend a lot of money here.This is fun but zooming through hoops in a volcano isn't really very realistic. I do like the feel of the airplanes, I have flown in a Stearman and this feels a lot like it only quieter and without oil fumes in your face.I do wonder why the Icon doesn't have a compass?I didn't want to use the heads up display and found that a little odd seems like they should have a big digital one right in the middle of the panel.I think they should have a way of telling you the compass heading of the runways you are directed to.I.e land on runway 18, or have it above the little indicator they direct you to.It really helps to know which way the runway you are approaching is headed.Landing the Stearman on some of those runways with no forward visibility was scary, for that matter so way taxiing.Mike
March 19, 201214 yr Icon compass: Turn on the moving map display (the top button on the right of the display with the Icon logo) and there's a compass on that display.Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
March 19, 201214 yr I was having problems downloading stuff I'd bought for Flight and could not download previews either. The problem was a bit obscure and it took me a while to find out how to solve it, but here is the solution:Go into your Windows Control Panel, and choose Clock, Language and Region, then choose Date and Time, then select the Internet Time tab and click Change Settings, then Synchronise the server drop down menu so that it shows time.windows.comDoing this solves the problem, which is that the MS server sees that your computer is on a later time, but it cannot start the download because it thinks it will have to wait until it catches up to what time it is on your computer, which of course it cannot do, because your clock is ticking forward as well which means the discrepency will remain, so it then suggests trying to log on later to try and download stuff, which is stupid and won't alleviate the issue for obvious reasons, but that is what causes the problem.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

March 19, 201214 yr Yup, it is a weird issue, although nothing surprises me with Win 7; it put me in mind of the scene in Star Trek III when Scotty (after having sabotaged the Excelsior) comments: 'The more they over think the plumbing - the easier it is to stop up the drain.'Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
March 19, 201214 yr Now try and re-download/install it from within Games for Windows Live, not from within Flight, in fact don't even have Flight running.That's what I have had to do with all DLC - nothing that I tried to buy from within Flight worked but everything I've bought from the website has gone without a hitch.
March 19, 201214 yr That's what I have had to do with all DLC - nothing that I tried to buy from within Flight worked but everything I've bought from the website has gone without a hitch.Glad it worked for you as well - yes I learned my lesson from that first go around, albeit I was doing an uninstall and then reinstalling to a different partition. Trying to reinstall from within Flight was a nightmare, it just got stuck on the " downloading" message and never went anywhere from there. All future DLC's , I will only do from the GFWM menu with Flight not running. Don B
March 19, 201214 yr it just got stuck on the " downloading" message and never went anywheregot the same. to summarize to whom it may concern: avoid buying or even just downloading DLC from within flight, use GfW instead.
