March 20, 201214 yr Ok gang,So now I have started exploring , and enjoying, accepting some job assignments at the airport - pretty cool now that I know they are there!And to think, all this time I have spent in Flight, just now starting jobs and have not even done 1 Aerocache hunt yet.My oh my, where will the time come from... and I am home recovering from surgery, at some point I will have to get back in the real world, what to do then! LOL, has been a long time since a new flight sim release quite had this effect on me...Yikes - I digress - on to the question:Ok so I have done 3 shorter jobs now, all three pertained to carrying someone. I managed to at least make one person happy! Oh, and I delivered a small load of calculators somwhere too - that one went ok.BUT - dangit, apparently I am missing out on some bonus points, mainly related to the time of day these are flown. For instance, this last job I completed hauling these calculators and it showed my score - well there was a box for a score for night flight - and I got zero of course since I flew it during the day.How does one know, when accepting the job, these bonus points are available? I do not recall when accepting the calculator haul, it mention anything about flying at night or getting a bonus if I did? Is it just happenstance, luck of the draw? Don B
March 20, 201214 yr I haven’t found a hint on the job description. (Don't think they are available at all)But in my experience, if the job is available at a certain time of day ie. Dusk, Dawn, I try it. Some (or probably all) sightseeing, medical and cargo jobs do give you an extra bonus.I think the same goes for cargo and the clandestine cargo missions when done at night.Hamburger runs are not available at night.I must point out that some airstrips are quite difficult to handle at night, so you’ll better go to the destination airstrip before accepting the mission and have a look from the ground and from the flight map views. You can also try and get vectors from the destination airport/airstrip to close by VOR’s(If you find the destination airport on airnav.com, grab the info from there.) Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
March 21, 201214 yr I once had the sun set during a mission (clandestine cargo, I think) and got a partial night score. Wasn't expecting that one!After you've flown a few different types of jobs, you'll remember which ones give a night bonus. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! March 21, 201214 yr clandestine cargo, I thinkthose give you some impressive boni depending on distance travelled. but as mentioned above, look where the journey takes you, strips w/o rwy lights are basically impossible to find during night. let alone the countless trees I clipped when trying to stay below 1000' in pitch dark night with lights off - cost me a few lives already :Hypnotized: Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
March 21, 201214 yr From what I've been able to gather so far:Cargo: 500 point bonus for flying at night (if you start at night, you get the bonus immediately, if the sun sets, you get the bonus then).Sightseeing: 500(?) point bonus for flying at dusk/dawn, 1000 point bonus if the passenger has to pee and you land and let them out, plus 65(?) point bonuses for flying past extra landmarks.
March 21, 201214 yr Cargo & passenger flights can be enjoyable, but based on the time commitment they aren't worth much points comparitively speaking. If it's points your after (ie. for leveling), Gold Rush runs offer the biggest bang for the buck. You can run up 6,200 points every 3 minutes. Compare that to a passenger or cargo mission where you might pick up a few thousand points here and there but the time commitment is huge.Cargo & passenger jobs to accumulate flight hours (in the Maule typically).Gold Rush to accumulate points. March 21, 201214 yr Author Cargo: 500 point bonus for flying at night (if you start at night, you get the bonus immediately, if the sun sets, you get the bonus then).Sightseeing: 500(?) point bonus for flying at dusk/dawn, 1000 point bonus if the passenger has to pee and you land and let them out, plus 65(?) point bonuses for flying past extra landmarksAh thanks for those tips, that will certainly help - I will try to remember those.Gold Rush runs offer the biggest bang for the buck. You can run up 6,200 points every 3 minutes.Yes I can see where it would, I got to say though I did fairly ok on the first couple or so - Ford Island is next, and I can not even begin to figure out how one is supposed to get even 5 of those dang coins, much less all of them! Made a couple of attempts then moved on to other things. It is truly not ALL about points for me, I enjoy it all and doing different things - although raking up some nice points is not bad while at it.Thanks guys, Don B
March 21, 201214 yr strips w/o rwy lights are basically impossible to find during nightWhen the moon is up, they're easier to find than in the day. :D More contrast. Hope they fix the night lighting eventually.Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
March 21, 201214 yr When the moon is up but only if. what I noticed though is that flying in free look or chase view the contrast is in general better than looking out of the cockpit, tend to fly those night missions in chase view to better see the trees...
