  1. The license validates through Xbox Live, so content verification and multiplayer should continue to function as long as they keep the content hosted on the LIVE servers. They don't tend to purge those too often, the only time I've seen them completely remove something from LIVE was when they shut down support for the Original Xbox in April 2010. Pessimistically, I'd expect multiplayer and DLC to continue to be available for a few years at least. There are Xbox 360 games with content and multiplayer still available, but the studios that made them shut down years ago. There isn't anybody playing multiplayer in most of those games, but they still work.
  2. I actually had to decrease my mixture to get the Maule to restart the engine in landing challenge 6 after a reload. That one surprised me!
  3. If you keep having trouble, email the Microsoft support line and they'll probably scare you up a new code.
  4. I think they use the Steam Forums because they have moderation control in their own hands with that. The support they've been providing through that has been really quite impressive, IMO. I don't usually see game developers interact on that level with the players, but admittedly I come from a console background where intricate troubleshooting with the players isn't necessary as often.
  5. Just a side note, I was in that session and the player who recorded the video was the only really laggy player. The rest of us were only seeing him bouncing all over the place, and as we flew over Kohala he revealed that he was simultaneously downloading a large number of sizeable files. There are some serious downsides to the peer-to-peer networking model used by Flight, but that guy's experience is absolutely not typical. If you have a good connection (and so does the host), the game runs remarkably well. The problem is that there is no speed requirement to host, so if you have Johnny Idaho trying to run a session off his 2mbps down .5mbps up DSL connection, you're going to run into issues. Personally I run into a boatload of problems that seem to stem from my using a wireless network that's fairly low-capacity, but that's life. I'm probably going to be using a hard-wired connection for my PC once I get an apartment, so hopefully that will solve that problem.
  6. I think they're going to keep using the beta forum for a while, they only just brought in a few of us from Steam during the Aerocache Bug fiasco, and that seemed to go well. I wouldn't be surprised if they continued to use us as guinea pigs for Title Updates and bug fixes like that.
  7. I've successfully navigated around Oahu using only my knowledge of some of the main arteries from Test Drive. It's surprisingly accurate, especially the lovingly rendered elevated highway through the ridge. :im Not Worthy:
  8. Love that one! I buzzed that little hilltop a few days ago just to see where the transmitter was when I was headed to Barking Sands for another Cache of the Day. It's pretty nifty that these are all represented with in-game geometry. I've never had reason to check in other flying games.
  9. I think I've bounced every landing with this thing so far. P40 is definitely a challenge to fly, and the complex 3D model within the cockpit makes it a tad difficult to find a good viewpoint. I think I might fire up Flight tomorrow and just do touch & go's around Dillingham for an hour or two. :Nerd:
  10. There can also be more than one "Lead Designer" working on a single project. All that means is that you're in charge of some aspect, not necessarily the whole thing. Big game companies can have many, many "Lead Designers" all working on the same game. :Just Kidding: Edit: Wow, yeah, from the job description they really make it sound like this is the head-honcho slot, so disregard my above, LOL
  11. Are you just trying to activate Flight, or are you trying to redownload your DLC? Instructions on how to autogen a new code just for Flight are here. If you're trying to reinstall your DLC, just open the "Games for Windows LIVE - Marketplace" program, sign in, and click "Downloads." Everything you've paid for will be there ready to reinstall. ;-)
  12. I'm still really optimistic about where this game is going when I'm actually playing it, however the hope often dwindles a bit when I visit this site. :Tounge:
  13. I had an apartment in Mililani! ...in Test Drive Unlimited 2. :(
  14. The entire point of this model for the game is that players can buy what they want. Nobody should feel obligated to purchase something just because.
  15. That'll probably even out with more time from release. Most of the downloads today will probably be people who knew it was coming out and made the decision to buy it beforehand. Preview downloads will pickup as people notice it in the Hangar or encounter the UFO in-game.
  16. I played around with the P-40 for a little while this morning. From the thirty or so minutes I spent with it, I can tell this is going to be my go-to plane for just free-flying fun. The AVG paint scheme is fantastic! :Peace:
  17. I'm looking at the rankings right now, sorted by "Best Selling All Time." The list goes: 1) Microsoft Flight (the game itself) 2) North American P-51 Mustang Preview 3) Maule M-7-260C Preview 4) Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero Preview 5) Hawaiian Adventure Pack 6) North American P-51 Mustang 7) Maule M-7-260C 8) Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero 9) P-40 10) P-40 Preview
  18. That's odd. I just checked LIVE and sorted to "Best Selling All Time" and the P-51 is ahead of the Maule (but other than that the rankings are the same). They must be neck & neck to have switched like that! :Peace:
  19. I went the opposite, I figured out the ILS on the Maule before I "got it" in the RV-6A. Love the HSI as course gauges go, so much better for navigating, IMO.
  20. Looks good! Definitely adding that one to my Virtual Hangar. :Nerd:
  21. I passed 1,000,000 exp yesterday and still haven't done the Hawaii photobook... :Hypnotized:
  22. Despite what has been said in this thread, the system does not simply "create a new account" for someone's email address without significant user input and multiple confirmation screens. It sucks that the DLC became tied to the wrong account and it's really stupid that there's no way to transfer DLC from one account to another, but this is a user error. Microsoft didn't do this.
  23. Low and Threatening is indeed quite enjoyable. If you're hosting a room online, pretty much anything other than Isolated Thunderstorms is fine. I've run into several lobbies with that one that don't realize there's an insane storm over the Kauai channel.
  24. They're tied to the account that you use to sign in to LIVE. Even if the separate email address stops working, your LIVE account will keep functioning. Your email address tied to the LIVE account can be changed if you switch ISP's or email providers. If you have more than one Gamertag, always make sure you're signed into the correct one when you redeem a code or buy DLC.
