Itsahemi: First thank you. The video made it clear to this old brain as to what had to be done.

Instead of downloading Notepad++, I used Wordpad - the downside is that it is one xml file at a time, but otherwise no problem.

The most tedious part is going through the Panel\AB_Systems folder.

I found that every file which had DISP as part of its name had to have the line removed. Also all of the Clock files as well.

In addition a file enigmatically called Attitude_backup (my wife says it refers to me), also needs the treatment.

But to Itsahemi (is that your car?) many thanks indeed for the first clear directions. I am flying in P3 now.

However I am getting some queer behaviour from my CH throttles. Min thrust is at about the 40% position, with Reverse cutting in from there back to the detente and further. I shall go figure.

KInd regards,

Ian McPhail

Hmm that is odd. Are you using fsuipc for it? That's what I use and no problems. Maybe try calibrating it.

Same for me, I followed the video to the letter, but the throttles are just the same as Ian's.

The same setup works fine in FSX.

I am using a virgin install of P3D, no FSUIPC or anything.

I haven't had this problem. Try using fsuipc and see if that helps. I use it and it works perfectly fine.

I have FSUIPC but I am waiting to take some lessons from Angle of Attack on how to use it for calibration and other things.

Peter Dowson is one of the greats of the business but unfortunately his manual is so complete I can't understand or follow it. Dumb is Dumb and I specialise.

KInd regards,

Well I could make a video showing how I did it. I'm glad to help anyway that I can. I'll post it up soon.

You've done a great job so far. If your video helps with the last task, calibrating the throttles that would be good. Mine don't even come back to the Climb position when commanded.

  • 2 weeks later...

hey guys,

any news on this ?

The dreaded 0,0 in the scratchpad.

I have used the method of eliminating the unwanted lines, I believe thoroughly, leaving no instance behind.

But I still end up with these immoveable and unerasable numbers in the MCDU acratchpad. The MCDU always seems to start up fine, complete with flashing words to 'wait a few moments', then also to command the IRS to align.

But the effect of these numbers which can neither be deleted or cleared or over-written is to render the MCDU ueseless and thus, the aircraft. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

KInd regards,

Ian McPhail

Ian did you leave the space in between lines 1 and 3? If not then that is your problem. I am making the FSUIPC video today so I will upload it soon. Let me know how things are going.

Now I have sorted out the problems relating to the dreaded immovable and unerasable 0. It has now been moved and erased - thanks to you.

Itsahemi, your first tutorial on making the correct panel cfg changes was great. I found that in the second on FSUIPC you might have thought we had some small assignment of brains, wrong!

Is it possible for you to cut the tutorial or redo it in such a way, that you deal with the throttle problem in very easy steps.

And first, do we need a registered version of FSUIPC. That is not a problem in itself, just let me know if I must do that first. As to winds and all that other stuff, I'll come back to it later. Just what what must I do to have the throttles work as EAD has demanded its pilots must!

KInd regards,

Ian McPhail

i really don't understand what FSUIPC has to do with the airbus x throttle problem in p3d :-/

AFAIK the Airbus X uses the FSX throttle input not that of FSUIPC, that was my understanding of it.

Patience guys the Extended will be out in a matter of weeks hopefully, so everything should work fine after that.
