April 28, 201214 yr The Katana I bought in FSE was based at North Carolina so I had to cross the entire US to get it to the PNW area where I exclusively fly. After many flight hours (without AP!!) I entered the east boundaries of CRM, at the Yellowstone area... There my jaw dropped!! The topography of the area itself is amazing, awe inspiring! The sheer distances and sizes of the mountain ranges, the mountain and valley formations that form vast arcs, which show that something big, something inconceivable happened here many thousands years ago. It is Indeed, In fact the Yellowstone/Grand Teton area is worth the price of admission alone, as is the Salmon River bush strips area. And the "something inconceivable" that happened in Yellowstone is that the entire park is a 50 mile wide volcano caldera! one of these days it will blow up (again) and take with it a large portion of the population of North America, let's hope it's not for a good long time... :)

If Yellowstone's "dome" were to blow, it would be a near extinction event because of the "nuclear winter" like result. It would not just be the U.S.
