April 3, 201214 yr I'm just curious what ppl's thoughts were on REX. I read the reviews and it seems like an awesome product. But, I'm wondering if it is even worth it since I already have Active Sky Evolution running, etc. Do you run both? Or one or the other? Thanks! Rob Sciarrino
April 3, 201214 yr Bobby, REX is incredible and has truely revolutionized the Flight Sim world. The clouds, the lights, the sunsets...just incredible. It makes both VFR and IFR flying a joy. However, AES I hear has a better weather loading system than REX. The majority of users I have spoken with use REX for the textures and use AES (Active Environment Extreme) for the realtime weather. REX is going to release..hopefully soon, REX Essentials which is going to be a great overhaul to their already award winning REX2 software. So in my opinion, you can't go wrong with REX. After a clean in stall on my system, thats the second thing I install after FSX. Hope this helps! Aaron Regards, Aaron
April 3, 201214 yr I have REX2OD combined with ENBseries (which is free) and it has honestly changed the way FSX looks HUGELY. I have a GTX 560 non-ti, and while that's very good, it's not the best, but with these two addons Flight Sim looks close to as good as I could ever hope to get.
April 3, 201214 yr Overall, I think that it is a must have. It is an incredible product that will change your view of FSX forever.
April 3, 201214 yr REX is good, but I prefer Active Sky 2012 to the point I just completely uninstalled REX and consider it a write off.. It's not that REX is bad, there are just things *I* didn't like about it that Active Sky does better for *me*.. It's apples and oranges thing and unfortunately it's just one of those things that you really aren't going to know if it's something you're going to like or dislike until it is purchased.. April 3, 201214 yr Textures are great, weather engine not so much, I'm having so many violent winds issues that I pretty much hate the FSX right about now because of it. I honestly don't remember the last time that I took a flight and didn't get the 'Bank Angle' call from the NGX due to crazy winds, even with a properly setup FSUIPC. I am eagerly awaiting the Essential to see if there's any change. Overall I'd give it 3.5 stars out of 5. Jacek G.
