CTD at Shutdown everytime

Featured Replies

Hi Bryan.

You must know:

There were no CTD before i got your FSP PDF from you to change the panel.cfg. FS2Crew and NGX worked without any issuses.

Now i got a CTD every time at the shutdown sequence. I set the parking prake and the FO does his Pre-Shut Down Flow. After the FO calls "ready for shutdown" i set the engine levers to cut off. Then the FO does something...and Bang...CTD.

Everytime at the same point. At every airport. FS2CRew and FSP works perfect up to the Shutdown...and than CTD. If i don´t use FSP...No CTD.

Any idea?

Greetings

Frank

I don't have FSP, but last night I got two "windows has stopped working" crashes. One during setup for second leg and one just before shutdown at KJAC (Orbx CRM) said something about DEP and protecting my pc from a program or virus. My FSX pc is not connected to the Internet.

Hi Bryan,

I had the same CTD yesterday with FSPassengers running, just when FO started the shutdown procedures. I looked for the error log and "API.DLL" was the reason.

I have been flying with FSPas, Radar Contact 4, GSX and FS2Crew since your pdf fix with no problems. The only different thing that changed last flight was that I almost made the full flight in real time. Usually I increase the rate to 8x due to limited free time with no issues. So maybe it was some memory problem not related to FS2Crew (but I'm using W7 64 with 6gB).

Hard to guess.

Real time should make no difference.

As mentioned though, I'm inclined to point to the 3rd party scenery.

I've been making addons for a long time, and 3rd party scenery is the cause of a lot problems, particularly with memory leaks.

But the CTD doesn´t happen when not using FSP. Then the Shut-Down Sequence works normal without any CTD. Thus, the probability is high that there must be a connection between FSP and FS2Crew.

My System: Win7 64, 8 GB, FSPassengersX, AES, FS2Crew.

  • 1 month later...

Hi Bryan and fellow Flight Sim enthuiasts, this is my first post, however may have found a solution for CTD's at shutdown.

I have Windows 7 64bit system installed, an Intel i7 9XX processor (not overclocked), and an Nvidia 580 Graphics card, and 12 gig of RAM.

Since version 1.3, nearly everytime I shut down the engines, I would get a CTD.

I did everything the manual suggested...rolled back my Creative Labs X-Fi Extreme Audio Sound Card to an earlier driver, started with the default trike in FSX, and 2D paner, reinstalled FSX config file, reinstalled PMDG 737 NGX, reinstalled SP 1c upate.

I did this over and over again, but nearly every time got a CTD when I shut down the engines.

The I saw in the FS2 crew something about GaugeSound.dll.

Reading on the net everything I read said the .dll sould reside in the file Windows system 32, however mine was in Windows SYSWow64.

I copied the GaugeSound.dll in the Windows SYSWow64 file into Windows system 32, and in the FSX root file.

I then renamed the GaugeSound.dll in Windows SYSWow64.

I have Orbx Australia installed and did four flights to where the CTD's were occurring, YMLT to YMML, YMML to YSSY, YSSY to YMML, and YMML to YMLT, and not one CTD.

Bryan I think FS2Crew is a great product, and hopefully I've managed to fix the problem i was having. I hope so.

Hi Paul,

GaugeSound.dll has no connection to FS2Crew NGX. It's not used.

GaugeSound.dll was from the older FS2Crew's from a few years back. The new FS2Crew's use a new sound system.

So did not fix your issue.

I suspect your issues are related to your scenery, or maybe FS Passengers.

Orbx sceneries can be pretty heavy... I suggest turning your sliders like LOD a bit over to the left.

Also try flying away from 3rd party scenery.

Cheers,

Hi again Bryan, did another four flights, didn't change slider for Orbx senery, I also have Orbx Melbourne ,Brisbane, and Canberra airports which are pretty intense and everything again worked fine... no CTDs.

I don't use FS Passengers.

My add ons are Radar Contact, Flight Sim Commander 9.2, Top Cat, EZCA, Active Sky Evoloution, VRInsight Combo II FCU, and REX Extreme, but not for weather.

I did read somwhere that the default FSX trike needs GaugeSound.dll to operate properly.

I understand what you said in your reply, but it semms to have worked for me.

I don't know why or how, but since I installed the dll file, and I didn't change anything else, no CTDs.

Thank you for your reply.

I'm just happy FS2Crew is now working faultlessly.

Kind regards Paul Dubois, and keep up the excellent work.

Just had the same problem. FS2C 1.4. Stock scenery (I took off from an addon, but landed at stock). FSPAX installed but not active (not activated yet, in fact). Exactly as OP, on cutting fuel switches.

For me i have solved the problem in this way:

When i reached the gate, i don´t use the parking brakes. In the FMC i activate the wheel chokes, then the FO starts the shutdown sequence too...and no CTD.
