Ghost aircraft at Amsterdam

Featured Replies

Hello,

After installing Aerosofts 'Mega Airport' EHAM in FSX I checked the airport in the sim and was surprised to see no AI traffic whatsoever, although the traffic menu in FSX shows a number of aircraft apparently parked or moving at the airport. Looking closer I can see their position lights and beacons, I can hear their engines and their communications with the tower, but for the remainder they are completely invisible. I have scrutinized the AF file with ADE and corrected all faults, but that didn't help. Does anyone have an explanion or remedy for this weird state of affairs? Thanks in advance for any input.

Regards

René

Your problem is not caused by any of the afcad files that come with this airport and I would advise changing them.

turn off aircraft shadows in fsx

Actually all aircraft shadows are not needed to be turned off, only "Aircraft cast shadows on the ground"

Thanks very much for the replies! Turning off the aircraft shadows did the trick.

@Sawyer: I presume your adivise is not to change them. Generally I'm also reluctant to change an AF file of 'modern' airports. However, now that I can see my AI traffic at EHAM, I've discovered some awkward situations which need to be corrected, like the jetway at gate E2 that pierces through a parked aircraft.

Wait what? Having this set on causes AI planes to be invisible? Is this with addon traffic programs only or does this happen in default FSX traffic also?

It's a problem when the AI traffic models are not native FSX models but FS9 models (such as WOAI uses). When these models meet some scenery that isn't native FSX either, then AI aircraft disappear.

Tom
