April 11, 201214 yr Last week I posted some shots of the awesome fog in MS Flight. http://forum.avsim.n...pic/368784-fog/ Today I had a problem with MS Flight: I had to do the two openings missions again... Very odd. I got that solved in this topic: http://forum.avsim.n...missions-again/ But now, SHOCK, I suddenly notice the transition from fog to no fog on land suddenly is terrible low resolution! I now see HUGE pixels and shimmering trees where the land pops out of the fog! Here is an example, this is NOT an enlarged screenshot but a part of a screenshot, so this is exactly how I see it in the game. You can CLEARLY see the pixels and when it's all moving it's even worse! I already restarted my PC but it didn't help! Anyone knows what's up? This is awful...!!! Should I reinstall everything...??? The ODD thing is that when I zoom in completely (in the game that is) the pixels are gone and things look smooth again! So it has something to do with how the game shows it all from a normal distance. Bummer... This is a total immersion killer... P.S. Here is a part from a screenshot from last week, which shows how great the transition between fog and land looked up to now...
April 11, 201214 yr Jeroen: I can't explain your problem. But I had a similar problem, in my case I maxed out all settings and actually lost scenery quality. Honolulu roads turned into gray lines with no detail and noticed severe scenery pixelation. I reverted to High Settings except Scenery Density to Medium and overall scenery quality improved much. My System is well above specs and my card is a GTX560. (I wii set fog as soon as I finish a mission and see what happens) Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
April 11, 201214 yr Just wondering if this has anything to do with your problem ! Player: " I kinda wonder if some of the complaints about the textures being too low rez are from this. The high rez textures are there, but some people never get to see them because they don't load in before they leave the area. " Dev: " The slow texture updating is a bug and should be fixed in a future update. " Fred. Frederic Steiner.

I have Quality and another one (can't check it right now) at Maximum and Shadows + Density at High. The last two are also at High (which is their maximum). I never had this problem, not even once. I did change all the settings to something different in order to somehow reset things, and then changed them back but that didn't help. Just wondering if this has anything to do with your problem ! " Dev: " The slow texture updating is a bug and should be fixed in a future update. " Fred. Slow updating could be a problem during a flight, but the fog is low res right after loading a saved Flight. When you load a saved flight, everything should be loaded: only when you fly a while things may be not loaded too well. I restarted the PC, started Flight, loaded a flight where there is fog and immediately there were low res pixels. Even when the fog is still miles away in the game, you can see bix pixels! Is there a way to completely reset Flight without uninstalling? Something similar like deleting FSX.cfg? I might try to delete Flight.cfg but maybe that will only make things worse....
April 11, 201214 yr Any recent change in graphics card drivers? We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. April 11, 201214 yr Any recent change in graphics card drivers? No, nothing at all. (I always update things manually and haven't updated anything lately.) As I said I only noticed this evening I had to redo the two openings missions. Seems to me this is related: it would be a too big coincidence. Maybe some files got corrupted.
April 11, 201214 yr Is there a way to completely reset Flight without uninstalling? Something similar like deleting FSX.cfg? I might try to delete Flight.cfg but maybe that will only make things worse.... Jeroen: If you delete flight.cfg you might lose all your carrer (unless you save those files and then replace the new ones, once you complete the 2 starting missions). Let me remind you what I posted at your other topic: If you want to "reset" the flight.cfg file and NOT lose all your missions and stats. Edit the flight.cfg file and remove everything except [GFWL] ProfileMode=1 (Developer tip during Beta, but I have not tried it.) As always: First make a backup of the file. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/369623-i-am-forced-to-do-the-intro-missions-again/#entry2334587 Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
April 11, 201214 yr I have to wonder, if the 2 issues you have had today are somehow related, ie the graphic texture issue and you having to fly the first two missions again. Almost sounds like something got majorly corrupted. Don B
April 11, 201214 yr I have to wonder, if the 2 issues you have had today are somehow related, ie the graphic texture issue and you having to fly the first two missions again. Almost sounds like something got majorly corrupted. Yeh, sounds like that too. Maybe you should try installing the steam version and trying. Maybe releasing the steam version caused the corruption of original version. Alex Leung Aerospace Engineering Undergraduate Glider & Private Pilot via Royal Canadian Air Cadets
April 12, 201214 yr Yes, I also think that's the case. I will try to reset the Flight.cfg tonight, once be editing it as Ramon said and if that doesn't work I will simply delete it and if THAT doesn't work I will reinstall Flight... First my original installer and if that still doesn't do the trick the Steam version. Some files must have been corrupted... However, if that IS the case, then that's not a very nice idea... Pity no one else has seen this. Well, not a pity for everyone else but it's a pity it is not a known bug or something. I don't like to be the only one with a very specific problem...
April 12, 201214 yr HeLLo Not easy... Is it a filter, a transparency, a texture, a graphical memory problem? Hard to know. I've had that sort of problem in some other game and it was due to the filter which was not set on the good option. Anyway.... good luck and have fun ;) @@++ (sorry again for my poor english, I hope you understant))
April 12, 201214 yr Update: resetting the Flight.cfg didn't help... I ran the installer and noticed it had a Repair option, but it couldn't find the Game.msi, probably because I changed the GFWL default folders AFTER installing Flight. So now I will simply install Flight OVER the existing install... 150 Mb download, still 1.300 Mb to go... If that doesn't do the trick, I will uninstall everything and start all over again. Boy, this sucks. Update: reinstalling didn't work. So I uninstalled everything and even removed ALL related folders manually. Right now I am installing MS Flight again and, bummer again, it has to download the game all over AGAIN...? Isn't that download SAVED somewhere...??? The DLC is saved so why not the freakin' 1.5 Gb of data...??? I also reinstalled my nVidia drivers: didn't work either. I am beginning to fear I am stuck with horrible low res graphics... Update: I'm back. After a complete reinstall all was fine. But... after loading a specific savegame, the pixels were back again!!! I had to remove the Career, start a new game and things were fine again. After that I restored a backup of my latest career (from yesterday) and all still was fine. I loaded the savegame... pixels again. EVen a restart didn't help So I deleted that savegame, removed the career, started all over again and after checking all was fine I restored yesterday's career and all is still fine. So somehow that savegame messes up some careerfiles... I don't know EXACTLY what happened but I am going to be carefull with what I load (I'll post more about that in the User challenge topic). I think what happens is this: the game is fine, I load an apparently somehow corrupt savegame and somehow it changes a file or setting somewhere. That change is saved in the career files. But apparently even restoring another career from a backup won't help here: you HAVE to completely remove the career, start a new one and after THAT you can restore a another career... Seems this is the only things that resets what's been altered by that savegame (which I obviously DELETED). Weird stuff...
April 12, 201214 yr Wow that is wierd... Now was that a save game, that you yourself had saved? If so, was it maybe previous to the update that come out? Don B
April 12, 201214 yr Yes, it was a savegame I made myself and I made it yesterday... So it's a bit scary: I hardly dare to save and load a game anymore... I have one default savegame (cold and dark) and I tested that one and all is fine with it, but I rather stay away from other savegames right now. On the other hand: I removed my career and started a new one: I actually flew the openings missions again and after that all was fine. Maybe it's enough to remove the career, start the game (which creates a new one) and then quit the game, delete the new career and restore the old career... If this happens again, I will give that a try. I probably downloaded and installed the game twice for nothing this evening...
April 12, 201214 yr Yes, it was a savegame I made myself and I made it yesterday... So it's a bit scary: I hardly dare to save and load a game anymore... Man that is just too wierd. I myself have not created or loaded a saved flight as of yet - sounds like maybe a good thing. Don B
